Move all bugs from one products components

Hey,

Is there an easy way to move all bugs from one product's components to
another product's components, assuming the new product has the same list
of components?

Thanks,

Bill

Search for the bugs and "Change several bugs at once" should do the
trick.

It sounds like the bugs are spread across multiple components, in which case
that won't work.

If there aren't too many components, you could do this for each component
separately, but that would be pretty cumbersome if there are more than just a
handful of components. Also, this will generate email for every bug.

The only other option I'm aware of is going straight to the DB and making the
necessary change. As with any change made directly in the DB, though, you
better know what you are doing and be careful! Also, the change will not be
noted in the activity history (unless you specifically add records by hand).

Isn't that what's the value "do_not_change"is for? One searches for
all interesting bugs in all interesting components of the src product,
changes the target product only and and leaves everything else as
"do_not_change". But I didn't try, I only have one test bug. ;-)

Yes, I forgot about the 'change several bugs at once" option. Why
shouldn't it work? There's also a "do not send" e-mail flag on change
several at once. Why shouldn't that work?

When you change the product for multiple bugs, Bugzilla forces you to pick a
version/component/milestone from the new product, and '--do_not_change--' is
not one of the options. :-)

Ahh, that would be a bit of a wrinkle. I want to move to a another
product that has the same components ... keeping the components the
same. Sounds like I'll need to script this.
