bugzilla.conf missing from sites-available

Hi guys,

I've followed all steps successfully up to 3.1.7 Configure Apache from

https://bugzilla.readthedocs.io/en/latest/installing/quick-start.html

however at this step I'm unable to find bugzilla.conf within /etc/apache2/sites-available#

What am I missing?

Thank you.

Why would anyone want to install an ancient insecure unsupported
unstable outdated development version, like 3.1.7?

Argh, I completely misread on a Monday morning. I'm sorry!

Which exact version are you trying to install?

Thanks,

You need to create that file on your own:

Hi Andre,

Thanks for reaching out to me on this!

As per: "3.1.5 Download Bugzilla
Get it from our Git repository:
cd /var/www/html
git clone --branch release-X.X-stable https://github.com/bugzilla/bugzilla
bugzilla
(where "X.X" is the 2-digit version number of the stable release of Bugzilla that you want - e.g. 5.0)
"

I've used that exact 5.0 version.

After the installation (successful) - upon reaching the first mentioning the bugzilla.conf under /etc/apache2/sites-available/ -- it seems that this file is nowhere to be found.

Thanks again!

Radu

Hi again Andre,

Silly me :) I was expecting to have the .conf file there as a result of the installation itself.

Thank you again for everything.

Hi again Andre,

I'm kindly asking for your assistance again.

I've created the bugzilla.conf file mentioned earlier and pasted the text mentioned in the documentation in it.

However, after running ./checksetup.pl I'm getting some errors and the file "localconfig" is not generated.

Here's what happened:

There are two stages in checksetup.pl and localconfig is only generated
if you reach the second stage.

You need to install all of these modules.

You need to install at least one of these modules (which one
depends on which database you want to use).

Here, checksetup.pl exits before running its second stage.

Hello Emmanuel,

Thank you for your reply.

How do I go by these modules you've mentioned above?

I've been searching for some of them with "apt-cache search module_name", however I cannot locate them thus not being able to proceed accordingly?

Can you please assist?

Thank you.

Guten Tag raduoctavian.b@gmail.com,

They are arbitrary named by your distribution, so you can not
necessary search for the mentioned named 1:1. If in doubt simply use
Google, like for the following example:

Hello everybody,

I'm retrying to set up Bugzilla on my Ubuntu. So now here is what I do not =
get.

Upon trying to do the following part from the documentation:

"3.1.6 Configure MySQL
The following instructions use the simple nano editor, but feel free to use=
any text editor you are comfortable with.
nano /etc/mysql/my.cnf
Set the following values, which increase the maximum attachment size and ma=
ke it possible to search for short words
and terms:
=E2=80=A2 Alter on Line 52: max_allowed_packet=3D100M
=E2=80=A2 Add as new line 32, in the [mysqld] section: ft_min_word_len=3D2"

I see that my my.cnf file is like empty as I only get this when I open it:

  GNU nano 2.5.3 File: /etc/mysql/my.cnf =
                  =20

#
# The MySQL database server configuration file.
#
# You can copy this to one of:
# - "/etc/mysql/my.cnf" to set global options,
# - "~/.my.cnf" to set user-specific options.
#
# One can use all long options that the program supports.
# Run program with --help to get a list of available options and with
# --print-defaults to see which it would actually understand and use.
#
# For explanations see
# http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/server-system-variables.html

#
# * IMPORTANT: Additional settings that can override those from this file!
# The files must end with '.cnf', otherwise they'll be ignored.
#

!includedir /etc/mysql/conf.d/
!includedir /etc/mysql/mysql.conf.d/

That's it. None of the lines I was expecting to modify line 52 and 32 as in=
structed. What am I missing? I'm kinda puzzled.

Thank you!

One more thing - I was able to find the same content here: (but why here and not in /etc/mysql/my.cnf as instructed?)

Because things simply change from time to time and the docs can't
cover all versions of Ubuntu nor all available packages you might have
installed from "somwhere". The config file itself contained pretty
clear instructions to where additionally look at, so shouldn't be a
big problem at all.

Hello Thorsten,

Thanks a lot for your quick reply. I did not change my Ubuntu version nor t=
he Bugzilla version I was trying to install - I just started from scratch.

Nevertheless I thought I was doing something wrong on my end as I couldn't =
find the content from my.cnf as exptected. However I modified /etc/mysql/my=
sql.conf.d# mysqld.cnf.

I did have a problem with the package apache2-mpm-prefork when installing t=
he prerequisites because it gave the following error: "E: Package 'apache2-=
mpm-prefork' has no installation candidate" so without it I thought that th=
at's the problem here :)

apache2 was installed however.

I'm moving on with the steps so I may run into new issues thus I may need t=
o bug you again :)=20

Thank you again for your time and effort.

Radu
