Firefox Beta Test Pilot (Feedback extension) causes Firefox to freeze on startup

Name:
Product: Firefox Release Candidate
Summary: Firefox Beta Test Pilot (Feedback extension) causes Firefox to freeze on startup

Comments:
Get the latest Firefox Beta with Test Pilot (aka Feedback 1.0.3). Make
sure user studies are turned on. The effect is even greater when there
is an ongoing study collecting data. Now, close down Firefox completely
and open it. After the UI has all loaded, start doing stuff (eg. open
new tabs, type in URLs, etc). After a few seconds of use, Firefox will
freeze completely for about 10 seconds, after which it will return to
normal as if nothing had ever gone wrong. Click the Feedback button in
the toolbar and Turn off user studies. Now, shut down Firefox again and
restart. Again, start using Firefox after UI has loaded. There will no
longer be any perceptible performance hit in the first minute of use. It
appears that as Firefox is loading with user studies turned on, the UI
is loaded before any active user studies resume collecting data. When
data collection resumes in the first minute of Firefox use, this causes
a significant performance hit. The most evident workaround is to turn
off user studies (or disable Test Pilot), but this would deprive the
Firefox team of valuable user data. The better long-term solution would
be to fix Test Pilot.
