Thunderbird 3 vs Thunderbird 2
Guys, I just tried upgrading from Thunderbird 2 to 3 beta (using Fedora rawhide which uses Thunderbird 3 beta 2). Now I thought I'd post something peculiar I found concerning posting to newsgroups (and apparently also SMTP sending). I have set up in my setting for the newsgroup to use my outgoing SMTP server. This SMTP server is to use authentication. After upgrade to Thunderbird 3, I couldn't post or send emails... My SMTP server doesn't support authentication! I used Wireshark to trace where TB2 was sending my news posts. According to the packets I captured T...

I put in FreeBSD 8.something, ran cvsup and portsnap then installed those ports I wanted. The first two were Firefox3 and Thunderbird. Firefox went in easily and seemed to work until I tried filling out web forms. As soon as I hit the submit button th...

Thunderbird To Thunderbird #2
Just downloaded and set up Thunderbird on my PC laptop. I transferred my contacts from Opera to Thunderbird. I set up a bunch of eMail Accounts. I put fresh install on my desktop PC. I see how to get the contacts from the laptop to the desktop. How do I get the eMail account setup from the laptop to the desktop. I do not see any export / import for that. Is there a file to copy over? Some utility to maintain the Accounts? No need to import - simply move/copy your whole mail folder to the new PC and tell TB where to find it. Please ask again if you need more detailed instructions (or someone else will probably provide them anyway). -- Herbert Eppel www.HETr...

Improving the Thunderbird Mail Start Page for Thunderbird 2
The Thunderbird mail start page is woefully out of date. It links to features that were new in Thunderbird 1.0 and 1.5. Nothing about all the new features available to users in Thunderbird 2. We'd like to replace the existing Feature items in the start page with a new list of features. It'd be really nice to highlight the new Thunderbird 2 features in the start page. But fixing this would require us to break the string freeze and is something we are reluctant to do without further conversation with all the localizers.
