Unittests and 64-bit support for Gecko 2.0 / Firefox 4

The topic of Windows 7 unittest status on
https://wiki.mozilla.org/Platform/2010-07-13 reminded me of a
related question, which is status of unittests on 64-bit platforms.

If 64-bit is going to be supported for Gecko 2.0 / Firefox 4 (is
it?), it seems like it ought to be passing tests. If so, should we
be tracking progress of this like we're tracking progress of getting
Windows 7 to pass tests (above)?

The current status (from looking at TBPL) seems to be:

 * Linux 64-bit is at parity with 32-bit

 * OS X 64-bit (which we test on 10.6) is at parity with 32-bit
(which we test on 10.5) except for two bugs (the first of which
means all xpcshell tests are hidden):
   https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=561350
   https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=558097
It's not clear if these issues are 64-bit-specific or
   10.6-specific.

 * We only seem to be running Windows 7 64-bit builds and tests once
per day or so. Some of the test runs are actually green (and bug
574095 probably just improved that a bit), but they're all
hidden, and they run very rarely, so there's not much pressure to
keep what's already green that way. Getting these green
presumably requires fixing the bugs in
   https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/showdependencytree.cgi?id=564257&hide_resolved=1
in addition to the ones in
   https://wiki.mozilla.org/Platform/2010-07-13#Windows_7_Passing_All_Tests
and keeping them green probably requires running the tests at the
   usual frequency.

We are currently just generating nightly builds. I am working towards
generating a pool of slaves before the end of month to build upon checkin.
After that (or meanwhile) we will make the release automation to work
for Win64 as well.

Many of the 32-bit failing tests are shared with the 64-bit failing
tests. Tackling first the 32-bit ones will make us pass on the 64-bit side.

Yeah, we are running it once a day since there is only one machine.

That's correct. Ben filed all the oranges that he faced while setting
this up.

2.0.0.18 and 2.0.0.19 hang on my vista 64 bit installation
Hi all, I'm trying to migrate from Eudora to Thunderbird under Vista 64 and am having a rough time. Installation of 2.0.0.18 (same for 2.0.0.19) goes fine, but then the Thunderbird application just hangs (spinning donut) without so much as displaying a window. Any idea what might be going on? I believe there was an installation of 2.0.0.14 on this machine that I just installed over. Maybe there are left over files? I'm not really a Windows guy so I don't even know where to start on troubleshooting this! Thanks much in advance, Doug mckeedm@gmail.com said the ...
