How to get rid off not translatable strings

I found that in browser/chrome/browser-region/region.properties there
is browser.search.order.3 which my localizers translated and they
should have not.

We use Narro and I would like to know if:
* We could mark strings that should not be translated
OR
* We could strip out entities that should not be translated out of dtd
and properties files

Thanks in advance,
Armen

browser.search.order is a localizable entity, but not a translatable
one. That's why it's in a localizable file.

There are quite a few entries that have technical constraints to them,
like CSS values and rules, "true/false" switches, and the productization
elements. region.properties itself does have comments, maybe not the
best of all.

How to expose those comments in narro is a different question, of course.

Any way that I (a human, believe me) can now the difference? The
comments? Could we have a manifest at the top of the file indicating
which strings are translatable?

Would l20n fix these issues?

Thanks for your replies!

Well, usually there are comments, or it's a self-explaining entity name.
Take intl.properties'

# valid intl.menuitems.insertseparatorbeforeaccesskeys are: true or
false, <empty string> (missing or empty preference equals false)
intl.menuitems.insertseparatorbeforeaccesskeys=true

Once you learned that "localization" is not "translation", it's usually
pretty obvious, at least with some webdev skills to recognize CSS
content when you see it.

Generally, that would be something like application-specific form
validation, to speak in html5 terms. I'm not too keen to tackle that
right now, but something along the lines of type annotations could be
added later. Doesn't give you a whole lot when it comes down to command
keys though, I guess.

This is all a balance between effectiveness for localizers and
harassment of developers. Not sure I'd flip the coin towards localizers
in this case, in particular when looking at the example above.

I just wantto get rid of all the characters but numbers from my string, that is, if 2210, than i wantto get only 2210. Is there a shorter way to do this? Thanks in advance... Hi there Because of historical reasons, I run a DB V8 which still needs the ODBC translater to display values (german umlaute etc) correctly. I tried to use .Trim() and .Replace() (looking for the '\0' chars). I still cant remove them!! Where are they coming from....
