Firefox 1.5.0.2 / 1.5.0.3 build errors
I've been trying all day to build Firefox 1.5.0.2 and 1.5.0.3 under Windows XP Pro, using a fresh install of cygwin, and MS Visual Studio 2003 (i.e., VC7.1). I've followed all the steps on the web site, I've set my environment variables appropriately, and no matter what I do, I end up with an error in c:\mozilla\dist\include\string\nsString.h(55): error C2006: '#include' : expected a filename, found 'identifier'. When I look at the line in question, it's "# include NEW_H"--which is obviously invalid. The only reference I've fo...

[ANNOUNCE] Opt-in thread for Firefox 3.5 RC 1
Hi all, I'm positive that we have all the strings for 3.5 now, and that I can open the opt-in thread for 3.5 RC 1. Please opt-in by Wednesday, May 20th, noon UTC. I'll follow up in in the group when we actually wrap up the code, but that's the timeline you should plan for. Please give your builds some additional testing. This is an Release Candidate, as in, we should be fine in shipping that. One way to guide your testing would be the 3.5 l10n litmus test run, https://litmus.mozilla.org/run_tests.cgi?test_run_id=36. Please try to get some community members to...

FYI: Firefox 1.0 l10n build machines to shift to Firefox 1.0.1 l10n
As a heads up to all l10n contributors who were a part of the Firefox 1.0 release and those who are working to be a part of our 1.0.1 release, we'll be transitioning our l10n build systems so they generate 1.0.1 builds this weekend. This will conclude our automated builds of Firefox 1.0. When the transition is complete, new nightly builds will begin appearing in: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-aviary1.0.1-l10n/ If your localization has a released Firefox 1.0, you should not need to make any changes for the 1.0.1 release. At this time, ...

l10n-merged linux firefox 3.1 builds on the l10n server
Hi all, we've talked about it for ages, now we're at a point that I had picked as a milestone, if I'd really plan on paper. We have l10n-merged linux builds for all 60 firefox 3.1 localizations we're currently building on the l10n server, with build on push. You push a change, it builds, and the build should work. I didn't go into details like specific branding for merged builds or something. More details on http://blog.mozilla.com/axel/2008/10/21/l10n-merged-linux-builds-on-the-l10n-server/. crash by embedding xulrunner 1.9.1.5/firefox 3.5.5
Hi all, it seems that embedding does not work anymore just after the use of TLS(thread local STORAGE) variables was introduced in order to make NS_IsMainThread faster. (see http://hg.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla-1.9.1/log/27d9d4107522/xpcom/threads/nsThreadManager.cpp) The call of NS_InitXPCOM2 causes "access violation" exception since the use of TLS has limitations. (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/2s9wt68x.aspx) Is it a BUG or is the behavior expected this way ?! embedding strategy: Frozen linkage: standalone glue (no DLL dependencies) System: Windows XP S...

Firefox 3.1 becoming Firefox 3.5
As was discussed at the delivery meeting yesterday, we're proposing to change the version number of Shiretoko from 3.1 to 3.5. The increase in scope represented by TraceMonkey and Private Browsing, plus the sheer volume of work that's gone into everything from video and layout to places and the plugin service make it a larger increment than we believe is reasonable to label ".1". 3.5 will help set expectations better about the amount of awesome that's packed into Shiretoko, and we expect uptake help from that as well. It's important to note that 3.5 repre...

Firefox 3.5 vs. Firefox 3.1
Dear Mozilla team, I have got just one question: I have seen that you talk [1] about version 3.1 of Firefox and the successing version 4.0, what about your plans to call the successor of Version 3.0 Firefox 3.5 as it was described on the figure [2] (from the roadmap wiki page: [3]) you have planned the version 3.5 to be based on Gecko 1.9.1.x Have you already decided how to call this version 3.1 or 3.5, I hope you also want to avoid the version number chaos like with the versions 1.1 1.4 1.5 ... I think it will be better to use the number 3.5 instead of 3.1 if it will be necessary t...
