Differences between running gaia through b2g and running gaia through firefox

Hi,
I have some difficulties during developing gaia. I see differences between running gaia through b2g and running gaia through firefox
nightly and I do not know why it happens. What is the point?
If I run gaia through b2g I can see many more functions than in similar
situation throught firefox-nightly. Almost everything runs very well with b2g.
Even icons of Apps are different. Of course if it is runned through firefox nightly I have debugger, developer tools and other things.
For example if it is runned through firefox nightly I even can not click on search input on the home screen. It seems that clicking on it is disabled.
Any suggestions?

Propose to drop Run-Gaia-in-Firefox-Nightly support, and switch to B2G Desktop
Hi all, :gerv complained to me sometime ago on IRC that he can't get Gaia to work following https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Firefox_OS/Developing_Gaia/Running_the_Gaia_codebase#Running_Gaia_in_Desktop_Firefox and only to realize this was broken for quite some time after confirming with people on IRC. Imagine frustration of any other community hackers out there. It's not a surprise that Fx Nightly support remain broken and no one is fixing it. MoCo/partner developers generally have devices at hand so we almost always use Phone + App Manager/WebIDE. The Nightly envi...

Re: Propose to drop Run-Gaia-in-Firefox-Nightly support, and switch to B2G Desktop
Alex, I am interested to know what's extra for Mulet, beside for Mulet itself. So Mulet will be a replacement of B2G Desktop, so that means Gij Gip will be migrate there right? That would make Mulet fits my requirement of "protected under CI" if these CI profiles are exactly the same as we offered to the developers (i.e. no separate Mock APIs will be maintained separately). Also, use Mulet over Nightly still means we will be giving up F5 right? How do you feel about the feasibility of implementing livereload for package apps? On Thu, Oct 23, 2014 at 9:21 PM, Y...

Merging dev-gaia and dev-b2g into dev-fxos
--001a113ce93ebce35d051e4c0c73 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Hello people of Firefox OS, After a discussion we have decided that the distinction between dev-gaia and dev-b2g mailing lists is not enough to warrant maintaining two lists. So we are deprecating both in favor of dev-fxos. So if you are subscribed to one of the aforementioned lists, you will be subscribed to the new dev-fxos list and we will shortly be decommissioning dev-gaia and dev-b2g. Thanks! Running Running Running

Gaia: string changed between Gaia 1.1 and Gaia 1.2
Hi, Pascal put together a very useful view on Transvision (for now only available on Beta). Unfortunately there are strings that changed between 1.1 and 1.2, without getting new IDs. Sometimes changes are minor (like removing an article), in other cases they're substantial. If your locale was shipped in 1.1, you probably want to check this page to see if your localization has already been updated for 1.2. For example this is the page for Italian (just replace the locale code in the URL) http://transvision-beta.mozfr.org/gaia/?locale=it#englishchanges Personally I fin...

dev.b2g and dev.gaia redundancy?
I'm relatively new to the project but I see more overlap than not lately in the dev.b2g and dev.gaia newsgroups. Are the original motivations for having distinct groups still still applicable? Would things be easier for more people if we collapsed down to one group? Is that an awful idea? - A +1, half the emails are sent to both lists to take it further I am sitting alone in #fxos on irc On 4 December 2013 00:22, Asa Dotzler <asa@mozilla.com> wrote: > I'm relatively new to the project but I see more overlap than not lately > in the dev.b2g and dev....

Gaia is closed (gaia-try is down)
You can still see status of PR here (https://treeherder.mozilla.org/ui/#/jobs?repo=gaia) should re-open once gaia try is up or (https://treeherder.mozilla.org/ui/#/jobs?repo=gaia) is looking stable (I have a PR in flight now which should do this) ...

Gaia repository modularization (was Re: [b2g] Move Gaia to the same repository as Gecko)
sounds like we put Xorg + GNOME + openoffice + a lot of apps into a huge repository in Linux. gecko is a platform and gaia is a mobile environment + core apps, I even want to split gaia to gaia-essential + apps in different repositores and then we can develop gaia app just like a normal web app. actually Greg and I are discussing this in sereral days and we try to figure our idea here: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1gO6NLhYHRmscJF14MezfP9BDZIVRJ6Mw_o1ZqWhvbf4/edit and we are doing some experiment to verify our idea. Pushing a single app without restarting B2G or running |make install-gaia|?
Do we have a way to push a single application to the device without having to run |make install-gaia| or restart B2G? Right now, I have to install the application using |make install-gaia| which gets quite cumbersome after a while I shouldn't have to reinstall the entire OS just to push and test my application.
