Problems => add-ons for SM in Mozilla`s Site

http://preview.addons.mozilla.org/en-US/seamonkey/

Why themes to FF are there ? Themes listed don`t work with SM, with
one or two exceptions.
They need do work with SM or delete from the list.

This list is much better: http://users.skynet.be/fa258499/
Why not copy the content from this list to Mozilla`s site ?

Speaking of themes... "Get New Themes" goes to this page:
http://www.mozilla.org/themes/download/

Which might be fine, but let's look at what is there.

* Mozilla Add-Ons
A list of themes for Mozilla Suite 1.7.x (or Firefox!) - not useful.

* themes.mozdev.org/
Used to be the best place to find themes, but doesn't look like it is
maintained any longer. 1.8a is listed as the trunk, no themes are
listed as compatible with Seamonkey 1.1 (or 1.0?).

* themes.freshmeat.net
A very small list of themes, most of which are ancient and obsolete.

* Open Directory
The page you attempted to access does not exist on this site.

Thanks for the link, I had not seen that one before. It is better than
the others, but even it is getting outdated - it does not list Seamonkey
1.1 compatibility. Saying that 1.0 themes will work is incorrect; that
this note was added as recently as February 11, 2007 is a bit shameful...

Yes Steve, this list is not perfect, but is the best list a see.
Does not list Seamonkey 1.1 compatibility, but I install very themes
from this list. Nemesis is the best !!! :^ )

Other good list with Hacked Extensions:
http://users.skynet.be/fa258499/hackedexts.html#tabx
I install the VideoDownloader Extension form this list.

http://xsidebar.mozdev.org/modifiedmisc.html#forecastfox
Here I finally install Forecastfox to SM.

Somebody need do a tested and official list with Extensions. I has one
community "Seamonkey Brasil" (google - orkut) and two times for week
my members call for help with bad extensions.
I believe suiterunner will help with this problem, increasing the
compatibility.

I like GrayModern; it has versions for both 1.0.x and 1.1.x. One of the
theme changes in 1.1.x was the coloring of the URL bar for SSL sites.

I use MediaPlayerConnectivity:

That would be very nice. If it is a manpower issue, perhaps there can
be a call for volunteers?

It's not incorrect, because they _are_ working well in most cases - ok,
they're not showing a different color in the location bar for secure
sites, but that doesn't mean they're broken, it just means they don't
expose a new feature.

The issue is just that that AMO preview site might just not list them
correctly yet, for example. It's just a preview, you know?
the live version of AMO has a few SeaMonkey 1.1 themes, and once there
is an own SeaMonkey section on AMO (i.e. when the new version used for
the preview will be used for the live site), people should upload their
themes and other add-ons for SeaMonkey there.

You can work with AMO folks to find out why the preview site doesn't
list those themes correctly yet if you like - but the AMO site is where
such a list should exist in the future.

It just needed some time 1) for the SeaMonkey project to get established
well enough in the community that people see that an own section on AMO
makes sense and 2) for developers to make AMO ready for supporting that
in a re-written version of their system (which should go live really
soon now).

I suggest that you all use an existing forum for that purpose. For example:
<http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/index.php?showforum=43>
The Extensions Mirror > Extensions > SeaMonkey Extensions
Now this section is only updatable by an admin but they are looking for
volunteer testers and moderators. In any case you can post about
extensions that you have found compatible with SeaMonkey in this forum:
<http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/index.php?showforum=11>
The Extensions Mirror > Extensions > Announce Extensions
and a moderator will confirm and move the post to the former.

Well, it's a new feature prominently listed in the release notes. Using
an old theme "breaks" the new feature.

Why is it incorrect? According to the few themers that post in the
SeaMonkey forum on MozillaZine, 1.0 themes will work fine. You just
won't get a coloured location bar on https:// sites.

The extensions list was born from MozillaZine users using and testing
extensions in the first place.

Was that the only theme change? I couldn't remember if there were other
problems; I was probably thinking of the 1.7.x themes being busted for
Seamonkey 1.0. Regardless, as I mentioned in my other post, it "breaks"
a prominently listed new feature of Seamonkey 1.1.
