Net Framework Patch Tuesday Update Failed

Hi Folks

The patches: KB2898864 and KB2901118 Net Framework, failed to install
with the unhelpful error code ff. I've been all round this problem for 2
days now and I haven't been able to fix it. I'm running Windows 7 SP1
and Net Framework V4. I was wondering if any of you knowledgeable folks
could shed any light on this problem?

Many thanks.

As usual there are all sorts of problems being reported regarding February
patches

http://pcsupport.about.com/b/2014/02/11/patch-tuesday.htm

(scroll down to see the Feb reports, comment 766 onwards).

And .NET patches seem to be particularly variable.

These days, I wait several weeks before patching, until MS gets the 5th or
6th variant of the patches out, to minimise the hit/miss element that has
become so timewasting.

We have lost more computer hours to patch problems in the past 6 months
than we have ever lost to viruses and malware, by quite some margin.

Funnily enough, I noticed yesterday that WU had hung at 5 of 8 whilst
installing some of the Net Framework updates, but I cancelled the
update, and continued later. As I was updating in separate instalments
(Win7, Net Framework, Office) I didn't notice the rest of the updates
didn't install second or third time around. I have just checked the KB
numbers in your post and they most certainly aren't in the list of
installed updates in my Control Panel.

They don't seem to be available any more in "Check for updates", either.

Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2916036)
Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2919469)

I'm fairly certain that I was offered only these 14.

In the link Randy gave
(https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/bulletin/ms14-feb), It notes:

"Executive Summaries
The following table summarizes the security bulletins for this month in
order of severity."

Of the seven articles in that table, I only have three of them! KB
2928390, 2927022, 2916607, and 2904659 were not offered. Maybe they were
not relevant for my setup.

On this PC, I am offered 10 updates, including the Malicious Tool.

Herself gets offered 12 updates, and I set that PC up identically.

Haven't looked at No.3 PC yet, it will be powered up tomorrow.

Does Windows Update know what it's doing ?

(Oh and Belarc keeps whining about missing patches, different ones on each
PC).

This sort of thing is what gives shambles a bad name.

Fail to load .NET framework
Hi, I'm using PB 10.5.1 Build 6551 to create a COM component that uses the .NET SOAP engine to call a web service deployed to JBoss. Testing the NVO from the PowerBuilder IDE works fine, but an exception is thrown ("Fail to load .NET framework") when the deployed COM component is called by a client app, such as Excel or VB ( i.e. VB app --> PB COM --> Web Service). The only case where I've gotten the deployed COM component to work is when the client is a PowerBuilder app located in the same directory as the generated libraries (i.e. PB exe --> PB COM --&...
