Mozilla Mail&News quoting

I'm just curious... As most Mozilla users know, the program turns
quotation symbols (> > > ) into vertical bars. However, if I try to
fool it by writing the symbols myself, like in this fake quotation:

 > This is a fake quote. Here is some extra text to make
 > the quote two lines long.

....Mozilla doesn't turn it into a vertical bar. Why is that? What is
the trigger for an "actual" quote?

From the message source, it seems like the real > is aligned with the

that's why?

Just my 2 cents.

Did you try Edit -> Rewrap? Sometimes that works. Also, try selecting the text
and choosing Edit -> Paste As Quotation when inserting text for quoting.

I believe it has to do with the way format=flowed messages are
handled. Manuall adding >'s won't make for a f=f quote.

My message is not format=flowed. Does Mozilla display the quotes
above with vertical bars?

Mozilla mail/news "annoyances"
I've been using Mozilla on and off for mail/news and browing since before 1.0, and I'm now running 1.4. I'm running on Windows, currently XP Pro. While I like Mozilla in general, and I do believe it has improved tremendously, there are certain things I find *very* annoying about. Some of these are: 1) When I'm reading mail, I'd like to do everything from the keyboard. No reason I should have to bother with the mouse to read messages. I can do that to some extent, but: 1a) I need a key sequence to mark a message as junk (or toggle the junk setting). ...

RFE: for "%%" becoming to "&&" as "//" is to "||"; the "defined(x) && expr" operator...
In looking at the 5.10 perl5op doc's, I was thinking about the "//" operator and how in an expression "a // b" it tests 'definedness' the left-hand-side and returns it if it is defined, otherwise, it returns the right hand side. The idea being that you might normally use "||" but if the 'lhs' could be integer '0', it wouldn't work as desired. I think it could be useful to provide an equivalent operator for '&&', say '%%', that tests 'defined(lhs)' and if true, returns the 2nd part (rig...

Get "Mail"/"Get "News" / "Write"/"Post" buttons?
If the "Get Mail" button text changed to "Get News", and "Write" changed to "Post" when TB's in the news-reading mode, it would save me and probably others from constantly forgetting to make the change before proceeding. :-) Or is there an extension to do this which I don't know about? Thanks! Bob Bob P wrote: > If the "Get Mail" button text changed to "Get News", and "Write" > changed to "Post" when TB's in the news-reading mode, it would save me > and probably others...

"This folder is being processed" in Mozilla Mail & Norton AntiVirus
Hi all! I just wanted to post my solution to the "This folder is being processed" problem in mozilla mail. A few days ago my mozilla 1.6 stopped downloading my mail from the servers without displaying any error message. I tried deleting the .msf files, updated to mozilla 1.7 but the problem could not be solved. With mozilla 1.7 the message "This folder is being processed" started to appear every time when I wanted to download mail. The solution was to disable the e-mail checking feature/bug in Norton AntiVirus. Now all mail can be downloaded again ;-) Hope thi...

mozilla mail composer: quoting problems
Hi, I have configured Mozilla Mail so that the composer works text-only, which means I don't edit HTML messages. Moreover, when quoting I have configured it to use ">" as the quoting sign. No problems so far. Now, when I'm writing a message and copy and paste text, now and then manually inserting a ">" Mozilla Mail doesn't recognize that as quoted text any more and when I send the message "> " gets " > ". Now the text isn't colored any more when messages are displayed in a folder. I'd like to disabl...
