Platforms?

Don't get me wrong; I think that SpamExam is a great product for the single
end-user. However, from what I've read, this technology could be even more
useful to corporations, and has the potential of putting some other
companies out of business.

If one user can create a 99.99% accurate scanning tool for his/her personal
benefit, wouldn't a corporation be benefitted by the same tool at the server
level? I currently have to personally, manually handle all the messages that
trigger my RBL and content filters because of the high rate of false
positives.

Once SpamExam is fully implemented for the desktop, I would strongly
encourage Mark to pursue a server-side implementation for Unix platforms and
(groan) Exchange.

A century or so ago, when Steve was first relaying Mark's activity, he
indicated that the long-term objective was server-side operation. While
diverting mail to a SPAM folder is good, blocking it before download is
clearly preferable.

Hi Mike,

I don't want to be the one to nitpick, but "A century or so ago.."?
I don't even think Spam (in form of mail harrassment) even existed.
But, of course, I could be wrong..

Jim,

POPFile is intended to do something *similar* to SpamExam (I'm not claiming
the same), and it is
both open source and cross platform. Visit popfile.sourceforge.net for more
information.

I sent this message to my anti-spam customers today! ************************************* Greetings to our anti-spam customers! OT: Spam, spam, spam
There must be dozens of ways to stop spam in email, too bad there's no way to stop snail mail and phone spam. The upcoming elections here in Arizona have the usual candidates and we also have a whole bunch of propositions on the ballot causing dozens of recorded messages left on my answering machine and huge amounts of junk mail touting candidates or ballot propositions (not to mention the non-stop TV and radio ads). Unfortunately, nobody considers political candidates or groups representing ballot propositions as spammers, I guess there's no way to end it? I kno...

Spams which are not spams?
Hi, I'm getting strange emails which I don't understand why it sent. The originator address is always different. The body of the message is a variation of the same theme but again never the same: "Good day, commander, You are very good, thank you! Valentin Good Bye" or "Good day, commander, You are very good, thank you! Russell See you" Only the "You are very good, thank you!" line is consistent. Is dev-platform for platform users or platform developers?
So since dev-tech-xpcom closed, there's been an awful lot of traffic on dev-platform from platform users. I don't really have time to read this, and it probably means I'll be paying less attention to the platform developer traffic on dev-platform (if any at all; I'd long since unsubscribed to dev-tech-xpcom until told to resubscribe to follow the XPCOM memory management discussion). Does this discussion belong on dev-platform, or should it be redirected elsewhere? -David -- L. David Baron http://dbaron.org/ Mozilla Corporation ...

Thunderbird Thinks It Is Spam (or, lovely spam, wonderful spam)
I receive an email newsletter (intentionally) a couple of times a week. I have the sender in my address book, but every time I get this newsletter, Thunderbird thinks it is junk, even though I click the 'Not Junk' button every time. How can I get Thunderbird to believe me that it is not junk once and for all? Thanks.
