Software security device (password manager) ask for password more than once.

Summary: Software security device (password manager) ask for password more than once.
I have Firefox set to "show my windows and tabs from last time" when
starting up. If there is login information for more than one tab, then
the prompt "Please enter password for the software security device" is
shown more than once. It would be better if it were only shown once.

Does anyone use any password manager software to keep track of
userid/passwords, credit cards, etc.? I'm looking at a product from

I am currently using Internet Explorer with Norton Password Manager. I just
downloaded FireFox and noticed that it has a Password Manager internally.
The advantage of using Norton Password Manager for me would be that I need
to sign in in order to activate the (Norton) Password Manager so that not
everyone would be able to use my passwords. If I would use Firefox' password
manager then anyone using my browser would be able to use the passwords,
right? Or is there some profile option in Firefox?
Is it possible to use Norton Password Manager in combination with Firefox,

Yes I just got this baby and I LOVE it! Its great. I have stored all my
passwords inside of it (and yes made a few backups from them in secure
locations) How secure is this program really? It uses blowfish to encrypt
the database but how strong blowfish? 128bits? 256? 448?
Anything else I should think about it? I have putted it and its databases
inside PGPdisk just to play it safe...but then again Im a paranoid. :)

I've been using Mozilla for a while. I'm using version 1.6. All my

So, I've tried to delete the wrong password but the password manager

I've reinstalled the french, the english, even the version 1.5 of
Mozilla, but the window never opens.

Why do I have to enter the password up to four times before it is
accepted? It's always at least two times, but, almost always four times.
When this Final Release Candidate first opened, The field would take the
password the First time, but then the neither button would respond. The
only way I got out of it was to Quit and relaunch, and, then it took
four entries of the password to get into the app.

First thanks to all for a great upgrade to SM2.
I'm on a MAC intel and downloaded / installed SM2 which replaced

Summary: Password Manager Security Issues
When using the password manager in Firefox (1.5 RC3), even if there is a master password
set, once it has been entered once for the session, you can go through the preferences and
hit the Show Passwords button without any further security. Like many people, I leave my
browser open all day... so if I have already authenticated with the master password, then
anybody can come along and get my actual passwords... which makes the whole password

In both Firefox 1.5 and 2.0, the password manager will show the saved
password in clear text when no Master Password is set. There is a
legitimate security concern here that the passwords can be easily
stolen if someone gained access to the computer. After all, they are
displayed in clear text. That being said, there is nothing wrong with
the design of the firefox itself. All the user needs to do is to set a
Master Password. But not every user who uses the Password Manager
knows how importlant it is to set a Master Password. So some type of
warning is almost necessary.
