SYMPTOMS
On a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows XP,
or Microsoft Windows Server 2003, you may experience the following
symptoms:
1. The home page in Internet Explorer is reset to "about:blank."
2. Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware (Beta) unexpectedly quits.

CAUSE
This problem may occur because your computer is infected by the
TrojanSpy:Win32/Banker Trojan horse program.

WORKAROUND
Most antivirus software can detect and prevent infection by malicious
software. To work around this problem, run antivirus software that is
updated with the latest signature files. Then, reinstall Microsoft Windows
AntiSpyware (Beta).

Jeez, now Microsoft is finding out what we have been dealing with all this
time. Maybe this AntiSpyware program will open their eyes a little.

Exactly - and that is why ZoneAlarm has so much built-in security to
prevent it's being shut down. I think Symantec's does too but not sure.

URL Handling Vulnerability in Windows XP and Windows Server,2003 with Windows Internet Explorer 7 Could Allow Remote Code Execution
Boy, that's a long subject line - but it's the title of Microsoft's KB article: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/advisory/943521.mspx -- Microsoft details (a bit) its changes to URL, more correctly URI, handling in IE 7 on WinXP and Windows 2003. The problem is that IE 7 code "tries to fix up" malformed URIs, then passes the fixed-up URI to the ShellExecute procedure (on XP and Win2003). http://blogs.technet.com/msrc/archive/2007/10/10/msrc-blog-additional-details-and-background-on-security-advisory-943521.aspx OR http://tinyurl.com/yoadp8 ...

Bill Gates Memo (1988?) "Windows, Windows, Windows" ???
Sometime around the late 1980s, or around Windows 2.0 time, I downloaded a copy of a memo that was reported to be written by Bill Gates, after returning to work at Microsoft from a two-week vacation. In it he wrote of his inspiration while on vacation, that Windows was where it's at ("...Windows, Windows, Windows!"). A couple of years (?) after downloading that, even tho I planned to keep it for historical reasons, I deleted it during a moment of mental disarray. Do any of you have it? Or know if it was real? Thanks, -- tbl tbl wrote: > Sometime around t...

Whan can i do? make "string" data type convert to "window" data type, and use a "window" name to get it ancestor "window name", thanks! i use pb5
Rich, With a string window name, you can open a window of that type if you need to. You could, of course, query that window object for any attributes. Another option is to use the LibraryExport function to export the definition of the window which is specified by the string. You can then parse the resulting file to get information on the ancestor object. HTH Sanjiv. "Rich" <windows_ce@netease.com> wrote in message news:2Xsr1WW0AHA.178@forums.sybase.com... > > > ...

"New window" should make a copy of the "old window", keeping the "history".
Name: Kevin Ong Email: kevinwtcathotmaildotcom Product: Firefox Summary: "New window" should make a copy of the "old window", keeping the "history". Comments: I like Firefox very much, mainly because it's faster than Internet Explorer. There's really only one function I really miss. It is Internet Explorers function when you open a new window (ctrl+n). In IE the whole new window is an exact copy of the one you open it from - you get the same page and keep the "history". So you can for example click back and it takes you one page...

Windows 2000 Server or Windows Server 2003
Okay, hold your breath and try to not slug me for this one. I have a 450 MHz machine, a desktop actually. I have made Windows Server 2003 run on this and ASP.NET worked great. I am, however, concerned with performance. The system has 270 MB RAM. I don't know if the improvements from 2000 Server to 2003 Server are worth putting the latter on a slower machine. This is to be an IIS server. Comments? is it going to be a production server, or just a development box? (probably a stupid question, but you never can tell these days) for a development server performance is less of a co...

Suspect "windows update" window
Hi gang, after migrating to win2k pro this week-end I have re-installed a fair number of programs from the internet. What happens now is that once in a while I have this "windows update" pop-up window appearing (I have posted it here so you can have a look : http://perso.wanadoo.fr/valten/images/suspect_update_window.jpg). It sounds really suspect to me. This apparently comes from 64.165.188.97 which I cannot identify. And what is this SVAplayer company ? Any idea ??
