strange results when using JCL

I am updating a example JCL application
 jcl\examples\windows\mapi\ReadMailExample
and have found a strange benifit when using
this application that I can not explain.

The PC I am using is a old WinXP PC with
Outlook Express installed. Well the app uses
the Outlook Express setting to read mail from
a GMail server. The strange thing that I can not
understand is that it finds very old emails going
back into 2006 that do not show up on the
google\gmail pages any where and I would have thought
they would have been deleted off the GMAIL servers
a long time ago.

Any one have any idea where this old email history
data could be coming from?

To use or not to use Delphi
Sadly, it seems to me that there is a sort of race between the two threads, for and against using Delphi in new projects, with more or less the same users posting in both threads. Arguments are fiercely debated in both camps. Borland had their own vision. As a community, now that Delphi has changed ownership I believe we should try to be more consistent, more clear, and more articulate in what we expect from Embercadero in terms of Delphi. We can contribute to keeping Delphi alive and moving in the right direction. "Laurent Cocea" schrieb: > Sadly, it seems to me that there ...

Strange results using $addHandler
Hi there. This should be simple for someone to solve.  I'm using $addHandler to attach click events to three labels, Label1, Label2 and Label3.  The event handler simply alerts the client ID of the clicked element.  However, no matter which label I click, it always alerts the client ID of Label1.   Here is the code:  <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Test.aspx.cs" Inherits="Test" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xml...

Strange Results after using LIKE in Query Builder

Strange repainting TDBMemo when using Delphi Styles
Hi Is this a bug? I'm trying to use the Delphi Styles functionality. If you subclass TDBMemo and put it on the palette using this code: unit UnitMyMemoSC2; interface uses Vcl.DBCtrls; type TMyMemoSC2 = class(TDBMemo) end; implementation end. Then the repainting goes weird when TMyMemoSC2 is used. Basically, the scrollbars don't repaint properly. The app I have seen this in is almost nothing; just a form, a style. If you use a 'normal' TDBMemo it works. But I need to be able to subclass these controls. Am I missing something here? Thanks in advance....

strange trace results using Net::SMTP and Mail::Sender
I don't know if this points to a bug in my operating system, a bug in my code or if it's normal but basically when I use these modules and run a strace (using Linux 7.3) it gives me the following: 12:28:39 close(3) = 0 12:28:39 munmap(0x400c8000, 4096) = 0 12:28:39 close(3) = -1 EBADF (Bad file descriptor) It tries to close something that is already closed if I read it correctly. I'm pretty new to using the trace feature so maybe I'm off base. Is this showing a problem or is this normal?? Jessee From: "...

Strange results returned using Linux to MS SQL 2005 through Sybase and FreeTDS
Hi all, I'm new to the usage of the FreeTDS and DBD::Sybase combination. I am seemingly able to connect to the DB correctly. It may perhaps be as simple as my MSSQL syntax is failing? I have verified that I am at all able to communicate correctly with the database by using the tool "tsql" which work like a charm giving me the expected results. However, when executing the classical test PERL script to fetch the server version: --- snip --- #!/usr/bin/perl use DBI; #DBI->trace(3); $ENV{'SYBASE'} = '/usr' unless $ENV{'SYBASE'}; ...

result value not used when using Raise?
I get a compiler warning that the return value of a function is not used, when I use Raise in the onException. I do not understand how that is possible, as there are two places where the function will exit before getting to the end (as far as I understand). The intention of Raise is that it will be handled the next level up, right? Which is what I want. {code} function TTeamReference.LoadStream(AnsiReader: TAnsiReader):boolean; var AVersion, AFooter: integer; begin result := false; << Compiler warning: [dcc32 Hint] TeamSetupU.pas(207): H2077 Value assigned to 'TTeamRe...

Using Delphi 7 and Delphi 2010
I had a project in Delphi 7. I worked on it in Delphi 2010. When I try to open the .dpr again in Delphi 7, the IDE toolbar widens across both monitors, and Delphi 7 locks up. It appears that Delphi 2010 modifies the .dpr in a way that makes Delphi 7 unable to open it again. All my forms & units appear to open fine in D7 after D2010, except for the warnings on the ExplicitHeight and ExplicitWidth properties being missing... I can easily recreate the .dpr, but is this expected behavior? Thanks. Tom Field wrote: > I had a project in Delphi 7. > > I worked o...
