Delphi XE3 Trial Install

Hi

I would like to try XE3, but have problems. Downloading web media is very problematic. I have to click retry many times. Eventually installation succeds, but trying to start Delphi i get this exception.

[Window Title]
C:\Program Files (x86)\Embarcadero\RAD Studio\10.0\bin\bds.exe

[Content]
C:\Program Files (x86)\Embarcadero\RAD Studio\10.0\bin\bds.exe

The volume for a file has been externally altered so that the opened file is no longer valid.

[OK]

Any hints?

Be sure you use a download manager like:

http://www.freedownloadmanager.org

Some webbrowsers have problems downloading large files from the web.

I recommend you download the ISO image and create a DVD image. Then,
install from it. You can download the ISO from:

Don't know about IE9, but especially IE has had probems with large
downloads.

Thanks

I will try that.

Observe that I completed download and install and Delphi simply refuses to start.

Why does it matter which Internet Explorer I use? Is it not the installer that downloads files. Only the intial setup.exe is downloaded by the explorer.

Downloaded ISO with IE9 and got "The selected discimage is not valid" when trying to burn it"

Tried with Chrome and got the same error.

What I want to know is why does the XE3 installer keep on firing up a
very outdated version of IE instead of my default browser Firefox. :-(

Must have been a bum download, my burned ISO works fine.

Try Daemon tools. That's what I use and it works fine. However, my hunch
is the cause for not being able to burn is a bad download.

My theory is a complete download and install has not been successful.
That is why I am recommending an install from media.

Huh? Never happened to me, but then again, I don't have a very outdated
version of IE installed anyway.

When does that happen? I don't think I've seen the installer fire up
any version of IE.

Indeed. Happened to me too. It was simply not complete, i.e. the last
few hundred megabytes were missing.

Er... I haven't used IE for years now... that's why it pissed me off
that the installer was firing it up instead of Firefox.

Yeah, why be friendly and fire up the default browser, when you can--on
a stranger's machine--invoke that fine tool, IE? ;)

Hi

Found the problem. ESET antivirus uses the Windows filtering platform API and there is a known issue - especially with CPUs with 4 cores or more. Disabled ESET package filtering and everything is OK.

I followed Dr. Bobs Tutorial for the starter edition, and he explicity mentions the BDE and TTable components, because he uses a table in one of his examples.
