dcc E2597 errors

I have been testing XE5 to see how hard it is to write an Android app. I am being plagued by dcc E2597 errors (which I also reported to QC).

I had it working perfectly with about 3 forms and then all of a sudden it started giving me "104:error:undefined reference" statements to a form that 1) was already working, and 2) hasn't been touched since the last clean compile.

Methinks the linker has issues. Does anybody know how to fix this?

This is really flakey. Sometimes it links, sometimes not. Is anyone else getting these E2597 errors?

It would be better to give more details, not only E2597. What is after this code?
Here is for example an other E2597:

Here is the error text. Funny thing is, I will be working in other units and all of a sudden units I haven't touched won't link.

I compiled and tested this about 6 times before it did this. It is complaining about my "Rig01Splash" unit, which I did not touch. I did notice that it referred to it as "Rig01splash" with a lowercase "s". If this is simulating Linux, wouldn't it have an issue with case sensitivity? (I suppose if that were the case, it shouldn't ever compile.)

I see this once a day when working for iOS, Android but I do not know how to reproduce.
For me is working if I restart the IDE and then *build* all.
If this do not solve your issue then you have a good reproducible example. You can create a QC.

Perfect -- that works.

Thanks!!

I find that if I compile or build before I try the green "Run without debugging" button, then I don't get the error. When I get the error, I simply do a Build All and that seems to work every time so far. Also, I do not need to shut down the IDE and get back in; the Build All seems to do the trick.

This solution has been reported to QC (#120178).

Hi I am writing an IOS app that has been working perfectly under XE4.

I have just upgraded to XE 5, and tried everything that Richard suggested above, but i still get the following error :

[DCC Error] E2597 ld: file not found: libmidas.a
[DCC Fatal Error] F2588 Linker error code: 1 ($00000001)

This only happens when the target platform is the device, NOT when I am compiling to the simulator.

Any ideas out there?

Make sure you have applied the update 2 hotfixes. If you only have Delphi and
not RAD Studio some files were missing in the update 2 patch and they are
supplied in the hotfixes. midaslib.a was one of the missing files.

Thanks for that Jeff.

Just seen the answer to this by Marco Cantu elsewhere on the forum :

(Released 2 hotfixes for XE5 Update 2. Both are to address some missing files.

Generating Datamodule
Delphi 2007 I'm trying to automatically generate the source for a data module from using an existing Paradox database defintiion, the database is reasonably large (100+ tables, 1000+fields) and is still evolving so I want to be able to generate a module now, and another one in a few weeks when it's changed.
