An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file (file location).../Database.mdf failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share.
Greetings, I have just arrived back into the country (NZ) and back into ASP.NET.
I am having trouble with the following:An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file (file location).../Database.mdf failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share.
It has only begun since i decided i wanted to use IIS, I realise VWD comes with its own localhost, but since it is only temporary, i wanted a permanent shortcut on my desktop to link to my intranet page.
Anyone have any ideas why i am getting the above error? have...

Shutting down the database server changes database file access permission......We are using ASA 7.0.2 network server. We have noticed that the server
changes database file (and the log file) access permission
to read-only when we shut down the server and changes to read/write when we
restart it.
Is there anyway to change this behaviour and keep the database file
permissions the same? Because our application has to override the database
with a fresh prepopulated schema when the application is (re)launched. Since
the database server makes the files read-only, override fails.
And it is not easy to change file permissions from java, programmatically.
Thanks,

Good (Free) Database Choice For Simple Local Database For Delphi 2009For years I have used the BDE and dVolga ( no longer abailable ) but want to
learn how to use other third-party and/or Delphi 2009 vcl components for
simple databases.
For a simple local database with only one table and 6-8 string fields with
graphic field support for one field what is a good choice?
What is available to do this without buying anything or possibly with a
freeware component?
Should I use DBExpress?
Is a commercial database application necessary to create the database?
Is something available from Microsoft as a free download to create and
possibly edit a...

Or is it like .mdf are easy to transfer. I am using SQL Authentication mode. Thanks and Regards,Sankar.
Sankar002:using databaseusing a database file(.mdf) I think you are a little confused.A database like a sqlexpress or sql server has a data file with extension mdf.So a .mdf data file IS a database and vice versa so there is no ...

You can use proxy tables.
Why do you want to separate the images into a different database?

ONe approach would be to use the System.Data.OleDb library and store connection strings for each database in your web.config file. Each time you need ...
Oracle Database vs Access Database
I am eventually planning on moving from an Access database to an Oracle database. I have no idea how to do this from the beginning. I know they both use SQL statements, so maybe I would just need to mirror an oracle database after my access and change the connection strings? If someone could answer some questions or point me to a post or web link that describes this in good detail1. How much are oracle databases and where would I find one to download?2. How much more can they hold than access databases?3. Will it be easy to move all my data over or would I have to change a lot with my sql st...
How could I restore the database from only the database device file?Hi,
I have to recover an ASE12.0 database. unfortunately, I haven't the database
dump file. What I have is the original database device files backed up by os
backup utilities. I even doesn't know all the database configurations. How
could I?
Thanks and best regards.
Here is the first thing I would try:
Create a new server, not used for anything else.
Use the DISK REINIT command to add entries for the device backups
to sysdevices.
Then use the DISK REFIT command to rebuild sysdatabases and sysusages -
what it does is scan all the disks looking for allocatio...
