Can retrieve data from SQL Server at Design , but not at runtime

I use Delphi XE5 Enterprise.
I am able to connect to SQL Server 2012 using an ADO Connection (Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server on Windows 7 64 bit) and display the result set of an ADOQuery in a DBGrid at runtime.

However, when I compile and run I get an error stating

[DBNETLIB]ConnectionOpen (Connect().]SQL Server does not exist or access denied

Any ideas where the fault lies?

Many thanks
