Amazon Web Services: Hosting a .net website on the Elastic Computing Cloud
we are currently developing a software as a service project in .net and we are thinking about using the aws ec2 for scalability. Has anyone experience with this? What are the gotcha's and best practices?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I would also be very interested by the answer. Although, since EC2 does not support Windows Server; this is probably quite a painful path. Best regards,Joannèslokad.com demand forecasting

I'm proud to say that I just finnished going through David Sussman's Beginning Dynamic Websites with ASP.NET Web Matrix. I'm super excited about building my new web site. But now I have even more questions than when I started.
My web site is basically a real estate classified ad site. Realtors, landlords, etc. can login, post ad listings and manage their property list. Web surfers visiting the site can search for properties that meet their criteria, view descriptions and pictures of the properties. I estimate that once the site gets going we will have ads listings for 500 to 1000 pr...Reliable.NET Web Host?
I realize this is under security, but it's the most relevant place I could find to post this question.
Is anyone using or does anyone know of any super reliable asp.net webhosts? I need to host an asp.net / MySQL app and Im having real difficulties finding a reliable host, especially one without tons of bad reviews out there on the web.
Thank you in advance,
Sometimes bad reviews are published by competitors :)

I am looking for some ideas on a hosting solution. This will be for a small college which offers classes in web site development using asp.net and SQL server. Would it be possible to obtain a hosting solution where each student would have access to a separate virtual server which would keep each account separate. There would be about 75-80 students per semester.
This should be possible. You can create a subdomain for each of the student (like student1.class.com, student2.class.com) and make them have a separate virtual server where they can test their dev...Message from Host, but not TO Host
I just ran dbremote on my newly re-extracted remote.
It received and applied some message from the host,
but it didn't send anything to the host. I ran a few times now.
The bottom of my dbremote log looks like this:

I have had to change the IP address that GW uses. Everything seems to be
working fine except GWIA, which will not resolve any domains and reports
"Host down" in the log. The email at the client says "Host pending" and
then "Transfer delayed."
I think I may not have changed all the IP Addresses everywhere I should,
but did go to properties of the GWIA and change the IP Address there.
And have restarted the server. Still no go.
It is a filter issue, because if I turn off packet filtering it works
fine. However, all I did was take the filt...any FREE web hosting available to host my testing DNN?

We have written a .NET web service which retrieves an xml file from the database. This web service is SSL secured and requires client certificates for connection.

I can build sites and would like to build a site to sell some stuff online, or at least try my luck at doing so. Got to figure out some way to pay those student loans off... Anyway, here are my questions:
1. Should I use Sessions or something else?
2. Do most web hosts provide Oracle or some other DB to store customer info and product info?
3. Should I store customer purchases or just have the page email me the form?
4. Should I tie to PayPal or use Visa/Mastercard, etc.?
5. How do you migrate the .Net code, etc. to the host site?
I'm sure I have other questions which...VS.NET 2005 Web Host?
