hi you can do it by using java script.
Here is the simple example in which I am changing the text of a asp:Textbox control by using a java script.

<meta content="Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 7.1" name="GENERATOR">
<meta content="C#" name="CODE_LANGUAGE">
<meta content="JavaScript" name="vs_defaultClientScript">
<meta content="" name="vs_targetSchema">
<script language="javascript">

function test()
var text = document.getElementById("TextBox1");

text.value = 'test';

<body MS_POSITIONING="GridLayout">
<form id="Form1" method="post" encType="multipart/form-data" runat="server">

<asp:TextBox id="TextBox1" style="Z-INDEX: 104; LEFT: 152px; POSITION: absolute; TOP: 96px" runat="server"></asp:TextBox>

<INPUT style="Z-INDEX: 105; LEFT: 240px; POSITION: absolute; TOP: 360px" type="button"
value="Button" onclick = "test();" >

There is no benefit of writing javascript code on the server side.
It is just that ASP.NET allows you to do the same .
It will complie all HTML output at Runtime , and since its a one time compile shall work just as same as writing in js file.
Hmm the disadvantage tho is that everytime you wish to change client side code, written on the server side it shall require a rebuild.

You dont write javascript on the server side. Sometimes we would like the compiler to emit some custom javascript code to the html, there we write it to the HttpResponse. But strictly speaking, its simply strings, not javascript when it comes to the compiler. for example, when you write the following

Reponse.Write("<script language='javascript'> function something(){//do whatever}</script>");
This will be written to the browser as javascript. But as you can see its only strings for the c# compiler. So to summarize, javascript is only client side

Ive been looking over the system.web.ui.webcontrols.textbox class recently and there seems to be a lack of functionality concerning getting the position (start/end) of the selected text. The selectedtext property only seems to exist on windows.forms textboxes. Im trying to create some rich textbox type tools but I cant figure out how to get the position of the text. Someone suggested using javascript document.createRange and document.getSelection but I dont see how to apply the javascript methods to server side textboxes. Any suggestions anyone? How to post back without really posting back?
I call a web service to get a value to update a textbox in response to a client side (javascript) event. Once I have that value I also need to update a RangeValidator's MaximumValue property. There doesn't seem to be a way to do this from the client side and I really don't want to do a full postback just to update this property. Can someone suggest an alternative? Thanks ... Ed   You can do everything with JavaScript. After the textbox is updated through your web service, you can use another javascript function to validate the range of the input. Use the onchange fu...

Changing Web Form Designer Generated Code
I am using to create an application. In one of my "pages", I have the SQL Select Command that VS generated for me, and I have added a couple of lines to pass through a querystring variable into the query. It works great, however keeps deleting my additions and reverting back to the original query. Any way to prevent this? Don't put your changes in that method. VS.NET overwrites that method whenever it wants to. You can create your own method, and make a call to that method right after the base.OnInit call in (I think, I don't have ASP.NET at work si...

Check if the text box "text" has changed (RePost from web forms forum)
Greetings! How can i know if the "text" inside of a text box has changed? For example, I currently have this: if (txtMU.TextChanged()) { } But this does not work. The other idea I had was to assign the existing value of the text box to a string and then when the user click the save button I can create a conditional statement to compare the original string with the new string. However, I would like something more effective as I have like 12 text boxes to compare. Thanks, EduardoThanks,Please Mark this post as answered if it was helpful. Prevent browser refreshes from posting back an already-posted-back form?
HiI have a formview in insert mode for inserting items into a gridview.  Each item is some description text, a price, and a quantity.  I'm using SqlDataSource controls while I learn about the New Way of Doing Things.If I insert an item, and then refresh the now-posted-back page in my browser, the same item gets inserted again.  I would like to prevent this, ideally without response.redirecting on FormView.ItemInserted every time a new item is inserted.  I don't think it'd be a question of clearing the inputs and validating for data, would it?  I mean, an F5 will repo...
