Can;t run dll created with Visual Studio 2005 on a machine with Visual Studio 2005 Installed
I recently made a dll in Visual studio 2005. I went File\New\Project and under Visual C++ I picked clr for my project type. When I take the dll to another computer that does not have Visual Studio 2005 Installed my application cannot load this dll. It does load it if I install all the Visual Studio 2005 tools and the Visual Studio 2005 Services pack sP1 Team Suite. Is there a was to run my dll without haveing to install all these tools on the target machine? I recently completed a successful installation of Visual Studio 2005 on my machine that had Visual Studio 2003 on it already. I am interested in the beta of Visual Studio 2008, but I'm not sure if there will be conflicts with the previous versions. Has anyone done this successfully? Are there any special steps that need to happen for these three development environments to exist together?You can't stop entropy so why even try?

I have recently installed Visual Studio.net 2005 on a pc and have been using it to create a .net 2.0 application. I also have pc running Visual Studio 2003 that I use to support a .net 1.1 application. This pc has broke. Would I be ok loading Visual Studio 2003 on the machine I have running Visual Studio 2005 so I can manage both the .net 1.1 and the .net 2.0 applications?

I did not know if doing so would cause issues or not so thought I would ask before just leaping and doing.

At one time i had to install Visual Basic 6 on my machine with VS.NET 2003 and had "NO" issues.
I would suggest take a backup of your machine or a restore point before you proceed.

I have visual studio 2008 already installed on my laptop and have a client who has specifically asked me to install vs2005 using their licences etc.
The client says that they have heard of issues with running .net 2.0 projects with visual studio 2008.
The client says that the web.config file becomes garbled and has entries which crash their web server when copied across.
Has anyone come across this before?
Am looking for information to go back to the client with as I do not really want to have both 2005 and 2008 installed.

During the beta period, I had both VWD 2005 and VS .NET 2003 installed side-by-side and I didn't notice any problems. I've also installed .NET Frameworks 1.1 and 2.0 on IIS 6.0, also without any issues. So, 1 and 2 shouldn't give you any problems.
