Upgrading Enterprise Library 1.0 to 2.0 and Active Reports 1.0 to 2.0

Upgrading From ASP.NET 1.0 to ASP.NET 2.0

The following document describes the solutions to the problems in upgrading from Enterprise Library 1.0 to Enterprise Library 2.0 and Active Reports 1.0 to Active Reports 2.0.

  1. Backup all your files, even if you have source safe.

  1. Follow the instructions by Microsoft for upgrading.  http://msdn.microsoft.com/asp.net/reference/migration/upgrade/default.aspx?pull=/library/en-us/dnaspp/html/webprojectsvs05.asp

  1. Upgrading to Enterprise Library 2.0.  Visual Studio 2005 automatically re-references Enterprise Library 1.0 even after pointing to Enterprise Library 2.0 in an upgraded project.  You must delete references and completely uninstall Enterprise Library 1.0.
    1. Load the converted project and delete any references to Enterprise Library 1.0.  If you have a web project, make sure to delete references in the properties window of each web project.
    2. Uninstall Enterprise Library 1.0.
    3. Manually delete any Enterprise library DLLs in the GAC, the project folder or in the program files location for Enterprise Library.
    4. Install Enterprise Library 2.0

  1. Upgrading Enterprise Library Configuration Files.  Enterprise Library 1.0 configuration files and Enterprise Library 2.0 configuration files are not compatible and there is no upgrade tool or editor available for Enterprise Library 2.0 at this time.  Throw the configuration file away and start over with the new format for Enterprise Library 2.0.

  1. Upgrading from Active Reports .NET 1.0 to Active Reports .NET 2.0.  There is a defect in Visual Studio 2005 that literally moves code behind files for Active Reports into the App_Code directory and breaks the dependency of all the reports.  Furthermore, report namespaces are not recognized in upgraded projects if the reports are directly part of a web project.
    1. Move all reports into a separate project using Visual Studio 2005.
    2. Close out of the project.
    3. Copy the files from the backup you created into the new project directory.
    4. Edit the project file using notepad.
    5. Correct dependency issues in the compile section.  Each .cs file is dependent upon the rpx file.

    <Compile Include="InvoiceReport.cs">

      <AutoGen>True</AutoGen>

      <DesignTime>True</DesignTime>

      <DependentUpon>InvoiceReport.rpx</DependentUpon>

    </Compile>

    1. Correct dependency issues in the Embedded Resource section.  The order is reversed in this section, the rpx file is first and the .cs file is generated.

    <EmbeddedResource Include="InvoiceReport.rpx">

      <Generator>ARVSPackage.CodeGenerator</Generator>

      <LastGenOutput>InvoiceReport.cs</LastGenOutput>

    </EmbeddedResource>

Differences between .net 1, .net 1.1, .net 2.0 and .net 3.0 #2
Hi, This seems to be a common question, but i havent got an answer yet:(Can, any one please explain me the differences between these versions.If you keep your feet firmly on the ground, you'll have trouble putting on your pants! There are too many differences for one email - - from 1.0 to 1.1 (not a whole lot of real change, other than fixes, at least compared to 1.1 to 2.0) With 2.0, there were many new declarative controls, with many new ideas added in With 3.0, it's a superset of 2.0 - instead of replacing the installation completely, it just 'added on' new functionality - I would...

But now I'm unhappy. How can I repair my default profile? especially resetting the Tools/Add-ons facility which is all screwed up and hangs my system. I emailed you a couple of weeks ago telling you how upgrading to .3 destroyed my toolbar choices & arrangements, eliminated almost all of my add-ons and hung the whole enable/disable process for the add-ons. As a result,...

firefox 2.0.0.1 and 2.0.0.2 download window problem
I am having a problem with the download options in the browser. Hope I can explain this correctly so it makes sense. I went to "options" "download" and tried changing it there for various settings with no change. Problem just started with 2.0.01 and unfortunately the browser updated to 2.0.0.2 before I could stop it but problems still there. My other computer works fine with both versions so I think something got corrupted but don't know what or how to fix it. I don't want to uninstall FF and reinstall it and lose all my bookmarks. Upgrade 2.0 to 2.0.0.1 blows up firefox
Windows 2000 system with firefox 2 working just fine. After running update, it will not start in either normal or safe mode. Task manager says there is a 7.5mb firefox.exe running but nothing progresses. Task manager cannot shut down the instance of firefox.exe. Upon rebooting, firefox.exe does not show up in the task manager until firefox is invoked. It then goes to the same situation as in the first paragraph. I have looked at the issue of a trojan and nothing shows up looking at the registry as suggested in the firefox website. Firefox will not start up after a reboot. T...
