i am using Visual studio 2005 and SQLServer 2000 client tool. And i tried with Named pipes as well as TCP/IP also. Neither of the options resolving my issue.

Your solution is for SQLServer 2005 i guess.

After days and days, hours and hours I have this problem resolved.

I contacted someone with a little more resources(Microsoft Directly) then myself, and here is what they found:

This error is caused by a bug when you uninstall and reinstall SQL server. To fix this error is relatively simple:

Locate the following folder(This is the location in vista):

C:\Users\*YourUserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server Data\SQLEXPRESS

Delete the SQLEXPRESS Folder.

Start the SQL Server Configuration Manager

SQL Server will repopulate that folder.

Anyway's here I am.

I have this same issue, but my application is a ASP.Net 2000 app, not 2005.

I do not have that SQLExpress folder on my web machine. And I cannot find it on my SQL Machine.

It only happens intermittently, but gets annoying. It was only on one app, but now has spread to one that gets more use.

Any other thoughts? Oh and the SQL Server is 2000

Then, I migrate the site to that remote server (running IIS and SQL Server 2005), so that the site and the DB are now on the same server.. the SAME server on which the database resides to which I can connect from my local dev box.... and the connection does not work!!!!   This is the connection string I am using:<add name="MyConnectionString" connectionString="Data Source=xxx.xxx.xx.xx;Initial Catalog=DatabaseName;User Id=xxxx;Password=xxxx...
