Use Parameterized Queries ...you woudnt have to worry about escape characters besides saving your db from sqlinjection attacks.

ObjectDataSource 'odsUser' has no values to insert. Check that the 'values' dictionary contains values
Hi All! I am currently trying to pull 2 values from two different sources (Details View & a Session) to use in a Stored Proceedure.  I have spent quite a bit of time trying to determine what is occuring without any luck. However, by the Subject Line you can tell that it's not getting anything for some reason?  Here are the components:Object Datasource:<asp:ObjectDataSource ID="odsUser" runat="server" DataObjectTypeName="System.Nullable`1[[System.Int32, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=************]]"DeleteMethod="RemoveEnrollment...

value of variable switches from ' ' to 'value'
--------------000108090907030800060105 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit I'm trying to figure out what exactly a script I wrote (see the attachment) is doing by stepping through it in the debugger. I have an array of dates in %Y-%m-%d format for each of the last 7 days. So, for instance, the range of dates for today (June 17, 2007) is from the 10th to the 16th. I then take these dates and use them to find work tickets in our ticketing system which were last updated on the day currently being checked. So, the first date would be 200...

How to insert 'empty' or 'default' values when SQL is first prepared and then executed
------_=_NextPart_001_01C6E1A5.2CB4F066 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable In my project I first prepare an INSERT statement 'INSERT INTO table (col1, col2, col3, ...) VALUES (?, ?, ?, ...)' once, then insert multiple records using 'execute(@values)'. The problem is that not all values of all columns are available. So I should either leave them empty or set them as default values. I try to use 'NULL' or 'DEFAULT' for those unavailable values in '@values', but it didn't work. ...

Why 'and' not '&&' ? (was Cleaning up 'uninitialized value')
> Use: > > if (@ARGV and -T $ARGV[0]) { ... } Just wondering if there is a reason for using the lower precedence 'and' here instead of '&&'? I haven't been finding many uses for 'and' which tells me I might not fully understand it. Thanks, Peter C. populate a dropdownlist 'Text' & 'Value' fields
Useing Web Matric and coding in C#. I put a DropDownList on the form and bring up the Properties box and I can enter a 'Text name' and then a 'Value' item. So the list displays the name 'Leo', the 'Value' has been set to a color I use, say Green. I select Leo and and can use the value with no problems. My question is in stead of hard coding all the various 'Text' and 'Value' entries, how can I do that in code. I use : DropDownList.Items.Add(UserEnterdName.Text); (a text box) and I get the data in but it puts it in both the 'Text' and the 'Value' field. So if I enter Leo here I get Leo out wh...

Inputing 'time' values on fields assigned as 'datetime'
I have a table with several fields defined as 'datetime' (we are using ASE 11.9.2). I want to allow the user to only enter a time value (e.g. 11:00 or 23:00) and have this value update the current database field (datetime) in the database without having to enter the 'date' value of the 'datetime' field. Any ideas? TIA! We went with a 'paired' column approach, in which the user types into a basic string column, and the actual datetime column was hidden from entry. Without getting into the actual details of the plumbing, the ItemChanged event fo...
