How to get list of all Sql servers on network

Is there any function/API in vb to retrieve all the sql servers that are avaiable on a network? Basically, i wanted to implement this facility in my application where users can select a server from list of all avaiable servers on LAN.

..Net, Im having trouble with a couple of the TYPES that are used in the functions.

Have you got this figured out in .NET yet?
Please let me know if you have a resolution.

If you get GFI lanscan you'll find there's a script there that enumerates SQL Servers on the network. Its basically VB script but I don;'t have it here at home.

To do it in I think you'd need to import the SQLDMO namespace

How do I import the SQLDMO namespace? Please

You add the Microsoft SQLDMO Object Library as a (COM) Reference to your project, then you add
<%@ Import Namespace="SQLDMO"%>
to your ASP.NET page.

How to get a list of all SQL Anywhere database servers in local network
Hi, I am using SQL Anywhere 10. How to get a list of all SQL Anywhere database servers (and databases running on them) in local network ? I would really appreciate if somebody can also post some sample code ? Thanks, Vijay You can use dblocate to see how well that feature works for you. By using the -n switch you can get the IP address of the found servers so that may allow you to filter the list down to just the subnet(s) of interest. DBLocate can find servers on other subnets via broadcasting, so you will need to be aware that is a possibility if your network routes t...

SQL Server 2005 Installation problems with SQL Server Express & SQL Server 2000
Hi Guys, I have had SQL Server Express and Sql Server Management Studio Express installed on my machine for some time and recently tried to install a trial of SQL Server 2005 as well.  (Yes, I'm migrating from Visual Studio Express to Visual Studio Professional, just as in tended!) Everything went fine except that nothing seemed to be installed.  I searched in all the obvious places - both on the Start/Programs menu and on the hard-drive: nothing. A check under Add/Remove Programs showed that Sql Server 2005 Express was installed, but called SQL Server 2005. So after a number o...

Getting a SQL Express Database to work on a SQL Server

Is there any easy way to convert my SQL Express code to either Access or regular SQL Server code, without having to change very much code in my application. I really like the integration that SQL Express has with Visual Web Developer, and would like to be able to keep that sort of integration if at all possible.
