How could we get gateway's address of the machine from its IP address?

I am developing an application in asp.net using vb.net 2003? I have IP address and MAC address of a machine in my LAN. From this I want to find its default gateway address, DNS Server address if any.

How could we do this in asp.net?

Atleast I want to find its gateway's address.

The System.Net.NetworkInformation namespace provides access to network traffic data, network address information, and notification of address changes for the local computer. The namespace also contains classes that implement the Ping utility. You can use Ping and related classes to check whether a computer is reachable across the network.

I have tried this - Imports System.Net.NetworkInformation . But it is giving error that this namespace cannot be found. I have also checked in the Add reference list there no such namespace.

Are you sure this namespace exists for ASP.Net 1.1

Could you please send me the specific code with the namespace that you used.

This namespace is new in the .NET Framework version 2.0.

Exactly and I want to do it in ASP.net 1.1.

So how could I do it in 1.1?

You can try searching if there is existing class for .net 1.1

Otherwise I'm afraid you need to call winsock API directly.

Hi, I have one query to trace client machine's IP Address: Using Request.UserHostAddress, we are able to find out the client machine's IP address. But if the IP is Routed through a gateway , the same object property returns the routers IP address. How do we find out the client machine's IP from this routed IP. Thanks and Regards, Bhagyawan Manjrekar.   Hi Bhagyawan, You can try the following : Request.ServerVariables["REMOTE_ADDR"] I am not very sure about it, but I guess it should work. local machine's IP address?
Anyone know how to get the local machine's IP address? I can't get the GetHostName API to work. I was thinking that after using that I'd be able to call GetHostByName function. Any ideas? DLL or C code is ok aswell. thanks, -brian Have you tried http://eric.aling.tripod.com/PB/resources/pbws.zip? FWIW, you can always just call Run("ipconfig > ipconfig.txt") followed by a bit of text file parsing code -- not elegant, but always works (well, almost always -- Citrix-type situations may pose a bit of a challenge) -- <hopethishelps/> Roy Kiesl...

Get iPrint Printer's IP Address
Hi everyone! I'd like to know a way to resolve a printer's iprint name (ex: ipp://domainname.com/ipp/printerName) to it's associated network IP. These are all networked printers. We can, for example, walk over to the printer and print the printer's configuration, but we would like a way to automate this process with only knowing the iPrint name. Our environment that we'd like to pull the information from is Windows XP. We need to pull these IPs for specific use. Shields Up! Finds Starband's Proxy, Not My PC's IP Address
When I run Shields Up! it reports my IP address as one of Starband's acceleration server's. I used to be able to simply turn of acceleration and bypass their tunnel and Shields Up! worked just fine. But I don't think I can do that with this new model 360 modem (or at least, I don't know how). So I need to ask if there is any way to tell Shields Up! what my correct IP address is? I'll work more on bypassing the acceleration tunnel while waiting for a reply. I'm not expecting anyone here to know anything about how Starband's acceleration works. Just wondering i...
