crystal reports .net -> crystal reports .net 2003
recently converted a project from .net to .net 2003. The 2 crystal reports I had in the project do not load when executing the application. The project itself within 2003 will allow me to multiplat the crystal reports, however when it comes to execution time I get the error:
Invalid Data Source.
If this isn't the right forum please point me to the right one as this is really the only website I know of with a large reader base.
>to multiplat the crystal reports
To what the crystal reports?

If im going to be coding my ASP.NET in just VB.NET then would I be able to go for the cheaper option of buying Visual Basic .NET 2003 ??

Yes.Starting with ASP.NET 2.0? Look at:Programming Microsoft Web Forms My Blog
Are there any limitations if I was doing my ASP.NET with VB.NET in Visual Basic .NET 2003 than if I was using the full Visual Studio .NET 2003 ?? Or are the only advantages of Visual Studio .NET 2003 in that it supports more programming languages ??

You should check the MS Web site, but I believe that, given an edition (Standard, Professional...Visual Basic .net standard edition source control support?
We recently decided to replace our asp development IDE with Visual Basic .net standard edition.
I am now looking for a source control solution (SourceSafe, Vault, NG3, etc.) which will integrate into the IDE. However, it seems VS.net standard editions have source control integration turned off.
All of the tools I have looked at thus far talk about going to the VS.Net file menu and seeing source control options but I don't see any.
Can someone either confirm my theory or let me know what I am doing wrong.
There are Source Control options under Tools >...Visual Studio .NET Standard Edition & Crystal Reports?
Does anyone know if i can connect a copy of the Crystal Reports Standard edition that goes for (180.00) to the Visual Studio C# Standard Edition that sells for (109.00)?
I don't think so like you want it to work. The Standard Edition does not include viewer APIs--it's meant mainly for report designers, assuming the organization has some viewer app in production. The C# Standard Edition does not include CR .NET, either--that's bundled with the full VS .NET.
There is a link to the V10 features chart on this page:

Hi, I just developed a commercial application using the trial version of Visual Studio .NET 2003. My trial is about to expire. I was hoping .NET 2.0 would be released by now, but that is obviously months away so I'm wondering if I could save a few hundred bucks by buying Visual Basic .NET 2003(around $110 i think) instead of having to buy Visual Studio .NET 2003, which I believe is up around $600 or so. All my code is Visual Basic, so that's why I'm thinking that's all I need. And it's mostly web development that I do if that matters. T...Creating Reports using Crystal Reports for Visual Studio .NET
Hi i am trying to create a crystal report using C# coding but instead of creating a web application under new project i decided to choose create an asp.net website with C#. The problem is i get:-

does visual studio.net 2003 makes conflict with visual studio.net 2003?
thank you for the help and for the support
No, the RTM version (I think this is true also for Beta 2), will work on the same machine without any problems./Fredrik Normén - fredrikn @ twitterMicrosoft MVP, MCSD, MCAD, MCTASPInsidersMy Blog

Hello, everyone! I have a solution which contains a windows project,a web service project and several other library projects. These projects were coded under visual c#.net 2003. Now I need to converted them to use Visual Studo.net 2005. Does any one know any article providing step-by-step guide to converting WINDOWS APPLICATION with web service? I can find one under MSDN for converting web project. But I guess I am a little confused if mine should follow this article since I am using web service in my windows application?
Thanks a lot in advance.
...Visual Basic NET Standard Edition
I cannot afford VS Professional..so am looking at VB NET Standard.
I know that I can't create "class libraries" -
1)do they mean I can't add classes to my projects? ASP Net or VB? or even a module?
2)Does this mean you can't compile a code behind dll in an ASP Net application?
3) Can I still add ascx files to a ASP NET application?
4) Presumably I can still add a COM dll reference in either a ASP NET or VB app?

OK, this has probably been asked before...
I'm a student looking to cut my costs, and I can do this by just purchasing Visual Basic.NET as opposed to the fully-fledged Visual Studio.NET application.
Of course, I'll only be able to program in VB, but that's fine with me. I wanted to know if all of the ASP.NET specific options are available, such as using a WYSIWYG editor?
I'd also like to know if VB.NET has IntelliSense, or that's a specific option only available to Visual Studio.NET users.
Thanks in advance.
I'd have to believe that VB.Net has intellisense. What is the price d...Visual Studio .Net? Visual Basic .Net?
Okay, I admit it -- I know nothing about .Net.
I'm a Visual Basic and ASP developer. DotNetNuke is my first tentative step into the whole ".Net Thing", and I'm looking for some advice...
What do I really need to be able to make some modifications, or new modules for DotNetNuke? Do I need the full, THOUSAND DOLLAR Visual Studio .Net 2003 package, or can I get away with the HUNDRED DOLLAR Visual Basic .Net Standard package?Chameleon Systems, Inc.
You can use webmatrix, available here for free.
One of the drawbacks of webmatrix however is that it does not support code-be...Visual Basic .NET Standard Edition Locks...
Hi There - as per the title, on a win2k box with all updated patches, drivers, etc. Any ideas? Sometimes I can use for 5 minutes, sometimes it dies after a couple of seconds. This is, of course, purchased software and I experienced no errors during installation. There is no error message upon lock, the system simply freezes with no blue screen, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated!...Visual Basic.NET or Visual Studio.NET? #2
I am currently using the Web Matrix to develop ASP.NET applications, but I am keep to upgrade to VS.NET.
However, I can't justify spending $1,000 at the moment. I then found the MUCH cheaper "Visual Basic .NET 2003 Standard Edition" which is only $100. I have very little C# knowledge, and use Basic almost all the time.
Would this be a good tool to use for web development? Does it support all the code behind stuff that VS users love so much?
I use "VB.NET Standard Edition" and I'm happy with it. It has exactly the same features as Visual Studio.NET. Th...Issue using control created in VS.net 2003 in VS.net 2002
I have a friend that has an issue using my asp.net C# custom control in Visual Studio.net 2002 that I have compiled under Visual Studio.net 2003. I never did test it with that version, but I was under the impression that it should still work as long as you don't use any features specific to the 1.1 framework (which I really don't think I did). My guess now is that this is correct, but only when using 2002 controls in 2003. I have searched the web, these forums, and MSDN for the last 30 minutes with no real answer.
