AJAX: which is better more controls inside one update panel or few controls inside more update panels
in form that have many controls , gridview , formview, buttons, textboxes, etc.
which is better, put them all in one update panel, or few controls in more update panels?
i.e. gridview , formview, buttons, textboxes all in one update panel
or gridview in update panel, formview in updat panel, buttons (that text needs to change based on some business rules) in update panel, etc?
besides will tables and divs inside update panel affect AJAx performance?!

I have a TabContainer in an Update Panel. When ever an event fires in an update Panel such as Button onclick , the TabContainer dissappears.
I also tried to move update Panel inside the TabPanel . I tested this at 2 different Places. One is on a Page and the other sits in a panel that is displayed by Modal Popup. When the event fires , the one in the Page is still visble and I have a JS error . The one that sits in the ModalPopup dissappears with same JS error.
Here is the error , I am seeing

I have created an user control which is placed in update panel.In the user control i have placed an dynamically generated table in which one cell consist of generated button.i have written an event handler for it but is not firing on the click of that button.i am attaching a sample code for it plese look into it.Please help me.Its urgent.

Hi,Thanks for visitng my problem.I have 3 update panels. in first update panel U1 I have text box T1 and drop dwonbox D1.In second update panel U2 i have only drop down box D2. and in third update panel U3 i have a treeview T1.I want that When I change selection of D1 in U1, it triiger events for D2 in U2 and T1 in U3. But when I try to bid U2 with D1 change event it does not show show D1 namein triiger control names. Rather it shows U1 panel name. Sam case is for T1 in U3. So my qiestion is : "HOW TO BIND TRIGGER WITH CONTROL WHICH IS INSIDE OF OTHER UPDATE PANEL?"Looki...AJAX update panel updating all panels!
Hey there, I have 2 updated panels on a page update panel1 and update panel2.
One is triggerd by a list box and the other is triggered by an image button,, the only problem is although each trigger is assigned to their respective list boxes, whenever a trigger is activated it refreshes both update panels, which is not what I want.

Take a very simple example, i have a button inside the update panel along with other controls and i have a textbox on the page.What i want is that when i click the button inside the update panel,it should update the textbox which is present outside the update panel.How can i do this?Prakash kumar
To my knowledge you cannot update any control outside of the update panel. If you want to update the control move it inside the update panel.
Do you want to modify the text box with server-side code? If so, put it in its own UpdatePanel. Set the UpdateMode on the panel to Conditional. Then...Update panel + User Control with Update panel :|
Here's the scenario: User fills the form, and needs to select location where he lives. If location is not available, he/she can create one. So .. I have an update panel, and in this panel I insert a user control for selecting / creating location (there is an update panel in that control too), so it looks like this:

the problem is, when user presses "Create Location", it tries to validate the main update panel, and doesn't call onclick event of the control.so qu...Update Panel Property on control which is not under update panel...
Um facing a strange problem, I am having three update panels in my page with some triggers for each of them.Now, there is one button which uses PopUpControl extender to show a popup....NOTE:-This button is not under any of the Update panels and neither is acting as a trigger for any one of them.This PopUpControl contains two buttons, one of the buttons need to Postback...But i dont know how Update panel properties are affecting functionalities of this button and its not posting back.....I also have noticed that if i click anywhere outside on page and then click this butt...updates, updates, updates

I take ...Ajax Update Panel not Updating
I have asp page with one update panel. Inside update panel there is a button and a label control. when I click button and try to updatel label.text="something" it works.
But what I am trying to do is on button click I create FileSystemWatcher object and register its changed event. Now whenever I changed my text file changed event gets fired and inside this changed event I am trying to Update label.text="Something". This time it does not work. Can someone tell me what should I do to get this work. Here is the sample code

Normally I use Safari, but my iBook is out of commission for a while.
So, I am forced to use a PC to which I would much rather use Firefox
