Can a Repeater Control display records in 2 Columns?

I am trying to make use of some empty space on my page that displays in a Repeater control a bunch of records that only have a small amount of data to display in 3 Columns.

I am trying to figure out if I can split 2 records into 2 columns side by side then repeat the next 2 records below the first 2.

So essentially I want the repeater to repeat twice horizontally, then step vertically down one line and repeat 2 more records horizontally.

Record 1 Record 2

Record 3 Record 4

Record 5 Record 6

and so on...

Anything would be great and yes no maybe so, or a link to a tutorial on how to do this if it can be done. rantings from some Canadian guy

You have complete control of the layout with Repeater control.  However, what you need is easier to get with DataList control.  See RepeatColumns property.

There are two ways I can think of doing this

  • Create a temporary table 2 slots in SQL wide and allocate the records, then read back the temporary table.
  • Otherwise dump the repeater, generate the table directly and inject it into the space where the repeater was. I have used this latter approach on numerous projects and it is much easier than it sounds. You just need to have a good idea of the HTML you need to generate, so do a mock-up first.

Perfect the data list control did exactly what I needed. In fact in the code all I did was replace the RepeaterControl text with with DataList text and everything worked without a hitch. rantings from some Canadian guy

Sorry Shiva, I posted that question over a year ago. I can't even find or remember where I used this code. I do know that I was able to achive what I wanted to just through the properties of the Datalist control without having to even look at any code. rantings from some Canadian guy

I have to show messages information in my website.  So I am using a repeater control to display the messages.  I also have a sql query written in another function which retrieves these messages.  So currently I only display 20 messages on my page (then I have a more button for more messages).  The way I have written is, I used "select top 20 message table name where condition...." But what I want to do is I want to retrieve all the messages from the database but on the website show only 20.  So in that case the above query wont work.  How can I ...

Can I use Accordion control in the same way as a Repeater control?
I would like to be able to create my Panes as I would ItemTemplates in a repeater. Is this possible?  Can I set the datasource of an Accordion via Smart Tags to a database table. Would like to know the possibilities before I try too many impossible hence frustrating attempts. Accordion certainly has a lot of applications if it has a dynamic nature. Thanks, Geoff I'm assuming the answer No. I've found several posts requesting the same thing but no-one clever enough to even answer.  It's a pity really as it would seem to be such a nifty use of this control....

navigate from Edit control back to the view control when the view control needs parameter in the url ( ver 2.1.2)
Hi, I am writing a module for 2.1.2. The view control is loaded based on a "&itemId=" parameter appended to the url. The module has Edit and Add controls. I use the same ascx page for both (register the same page twice as Add and Edit). Navigation to the Edit is done by using EditUrl("itemId", itemId, "Edit") and navigation to the Add is done by using EditUrl("itemId", -1, "Add"). This goes well. The problem is going back from both Edit and Add to the view, when clicking update, delete or cancel. I've tried EditUrl("itemId",itemId, "") going back from the Edit, but I get the "mid=...
