Does ODAC 9.2.0.7.0 work with Oracle database version 9i 9.2.0.6.0 using VS2005?

I am using VS2005 and need to connect to an Oracle database.

The Oracle database version is Oracle 9i 9.2.0.6.0

I have taken a look at the Oracle site (http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/windows/odpnet/index.html).

I can download the Oracle Data Access Component - Oracle9i Release 2 ODAC 9.2.0.7.0, but will this work with our current Oracle database version 9i 9.2.0.6.0 ?

Any help appreciated.

Regards,

Paul.

Strange Oracle Issue with 9.2.0.2 and 9.2.0.3
I wonder if anyone has seen this issue ... We have a successfully compiled DBD 1.12 and 1.14 running on a RedHat 7.2 server -- when setting RowCacheSize to a number more that 1000 we garbled data -- Also using the -1000 value does the same. I have seen a few tidbits of data on the net and Oracle's Metalink talking about a possible bug with >= 9.2.0.2 Oracle but to patches and no bugs reported. The problem disappears with setting RowCacheSize to something small like 100 or 0. Also the problem is not seen <= 9.2.0.1 Oracle Client. I am about to write up a TAR on this with Ora...

9.0.0, 9.0.1, 9.0.2
My shop is moving to PB9 and is about to deploy with 9.0.0 build 5507. How stable is this runtime environment? I assume 9.0.1 and 9.0.2 are better, but that isn't always the case. I'd like to convince folks here that going out with a .0 release is a bit risky, but I haven't found any issues with 9.0.0 yet that require us to go with 9.0.1 or 9.0.2. Should I feel comfortable that 9.0.0 is fine, or are there solid reasons to go with 9.0.1 or 9.0.2 that I haven't found yet? I'd go with the 9.0.1 release - the latest EBF. Fixes for DBD::Oracle 1.14 Makefile.PL using Oracle 9.2.0.0.0 on HP-UX
------_=_NextPart_001_01C367AC.DC7002F0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Hi, When running 'perl Makefile.PL' "out of the box", perl complained that the version of Oracle was a string, but was being compared as a number. This is because the program assumes that the version has only 3 parts, when in fact it has 5. This was fixed by: Line 182: ($inspdver{rdbms_ver} = $inspdver{RDBMS}) =~ s/^(\d+\.\d+)\.(\d+)/${1}0$2/; # Added the following two lines $inspdver{rdbms_ver} =~ s/^(\d+\.\d+)\.(\d+)/${1}0$2/; $inspdver{rdbms_ver} =~ s/^...

2.0.0.6 and 2.0.0.7 updates work poorly on XP
The recent automatic update from ver. 2.0.0.3 to 2.0.0.7 on my Windows XP machine caused firefox to "hang up" quote a bit with long pause periods between mouse clicks and typing and returns. The problem seemed to get better when I uninstalled all of my extensions one by one. It makes me wonder if there is a problem with extensions with the new 2.0.0.7 update. (I did not have this problem on my Vista machine). It seemed that this problem was localized to my own machine until a friend called me today to ask for help with the same problem when their firefox browser running...
