VWD 2008 Express Error 42000 MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver mysqld-5.0.22 error in SQL Syntax

This is driving me a bit mad now trying to get this fixed.

 Have downloaded and install the mysql connector 5.2.0, have managed to connect fine to the database using ODBC, Can connect ok to the database in Access 2008 and see data.

In Visual Web Developer Express 2008 have managed to connect to the database ok, can see all the tables there. However when adding the SqlDataSource and configure, will connect ok,

However in the configure the Select Statement it doesn't retreive any of the columns in the specify columns from a table or view.

 If I do a specify a customer SQL Statement or stored procedure then I can select all the tables, if I do a test query it brings back all the data.

 Any ideas why the default option just gives the following error message?

Error 42000 MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver mysqld-5.0.22 You have an error in your SQL Syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '[rpt_teamstanding]' at line 1

The code from the page is as follows

    <asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSource1" runat="server"
        ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:tuestriosmysql-conn %>"
        ProviderName="<%$ ConnectionStrings:tuestriosmysql-conn.ProviderName %>"
        SelectCommand="SELECT * FROM [rpt_teamstanding]"></asp:SqlDataSource>

Thanks in advance for any help

Stephen

Try it without the [square] brackets.

Thanks for that the code now works and displays properly in IE & Firefox, however any ideas now to get the auto wizard working properly?

Try posting the question about how to avoid square brackets in this forum:

In addition to this, mysql uses the ` character to enclose reserved names. not the usual [bracket]. so queries could look like

SELECT `table_name`.`column_name` FROM `table_name`;

Happy coding!

5.5.04 ODBC Driver Error ( Memory allocation error )
Hi all, I have upgraded to SQL Anywhere 5.5.04. My app is accessing the database though ODBC 3.0. With 5.5.03 it worked well, however in 5.5.04 it is now giving me an ODBC driver error "Memory Allocation Error" when I insert data into one of the tables ( not all tables ) The table does have a blob, but so do the others that do work. This problem has been tested on a number of different machines and is always the same. Any suggestions ( is it a new but in the ODBC driver 5.5.04? ) Thanks, Wayne born2code@cablelan.net Are you possibly trying to load more than 32K int...

I've followed all the steps on the web site, I've set my environment variables appropriately, and no matter what I do, I end up with an error in c:\mozilla\dist\include\string\nsString.h(55): error C2006: '#include' : expected a filename, found 'identifier'. When I look at the line in question, it's "# include NEW_H"--which is obviously invalid. The only reference I've fo...

Umlaut error with 2.22.1 and MySQL 5
Hi, since the migration of bugzilla to a new server (before: bugzilla 2.22.1 with MySQL 5.0.21 and Apache 1.3.x, now bugzilla 2.22.1, MySQL 5.0.30 and Apache 2.2.x) on some pages German characters like Umlaute (, , ) or are not displayed correctly on some pages. E.g. the bug lists are ok, but if I click on a bug and show_bug.cgi loads, all special characters are displayed as a question mark. Some weeks ago I recognized the same behavior as I did some testing with the utf8 parameter, I had to turn it off again to see the bugs with the correct char set. But this was not th...
