HELP Running a web-site with .NET 2.0 and NET 1.1

Hi evreybody,

I have a HUGE problem. I running a website that I have just created with ASP .NET 2.0 technology, well within my web site there is an web application that needs to run under V1.1. I'm using IIS 6.0 and I was wondering to see if anybody can help me run my new site, and run that web app at the same time. Basically is two sites within one web directory, the way you acces both sites is by the same link, just one is ROOT/default aspx (V2.0) and the other is Root/webapp/default.aspx (v1.1) can anybody help me... :( THANK you

you will have to define them as two separate web apps in IIS.  From there you will be able to modify the properties for each web app and specify which version of the .net framework to use.  Virtual directories will help you with your directory structure.

Hi,

Thank you for your response. I have already tried something very similar, I configure a Virtual Directory for the other app, and set that one with its own app pool and version. When I try to run it, it will still try to reference the other web.config file. Basically this is how I set it up:

 Set up 1

The default site(root site),  has its own web.config file, the other application it has its own web.config file.

I set the root site to be in ASP.NET V2.0 and the other web app(virtual directory) to be V1.1. I can load the v2.0 w/no problems, but when it comes to the V1.1 app it quotes erros from the V2.0 Config file, when i check the Virtual directory properties the web.config file for the V1.1 has the correct path.

Set Up 2

I tried to make the root site V1.1, and the virtual directory V2.0, it will give me almost the samte thing,V1.1 will run good, but in the app V2.0 it will give me an error page saying server unavalibale in big red letters. I check the Log file, and it tells me that I can't run 2 diferent ASP.NET version with in the same app.

I'm Stuck. can you help me any further. Thank you

create another application pool in IIS and place one of your web apps in the newly created app pool

So the parent site and child virtual directory are pointing to different pools, and you are still having a problem. Does it look like the virtual directory is trying and failing to load references specified in the parent web.config? If so, you may have run into a problem with Configuration Inheritance. See the section on "Conflicts Between Settings"

I am seeing these types of problems a lot in my organization, where we have many editorial sites each with multiple webapps. Unfortunately the only thing that has worked for me is restructuring the site/app relationship so they aren't child/parent. This is not always feasible.

Here's another thought...could you specify your child's configuration in the parent's web.config using the Location Tag? Seems like a stretch but may be worth a quick try.

Differences between .net 1, .net 1.1, .net 2.0 and .net 3.0 #2
Hi, This seems to be a common question, but i havent got an answer yet:(Can, any one please explain me the differences between these versions. If you keep your feet firmly on the ground, you'll have trouble putting on your pants! There are too many differences for one email - - from 1.0 to 1.1 (not a whole lot of real change, other than fixes, at least compared to 1.1 to 2.0) With 2.0, there were many new declarative controls, with many new ideas added in With 3.0, it's a superset of 2.0 - instead of replacing the installation completely, it just 'added on' new functionality - I would...

DLL does not run on .Net 2.0 but runs on .Net 1.1
We have a DLL that was written in .Net 1.1. The DLL was not developed by us and therefore we do not have the source code to modify it. Based on my investigations, the DLL seems to be inheriting from the ‘system.web.ui.pair’ class. Unfortunately, this class is now sealed in .Net 2.0 and it therefore can not be used in inheritance. Does anybody have an idea on how we can make this DLL work in .Net 2.0?  Any walk arounds? Thanks Try to use Reflection to know the stucture of DLL. ThanksGirijeshhttp://www.girijesh.in/...

Can a .NET 1.1 page execute in a .NET 2.0 web site?
I've got a ASP.NET 1.1 web site to which I would like to add some ASP.NET 2.0 web pages. Could I just change the web site to point to the 2.0 .NET version and still have the .NET 1.1 web pages work so that both versions are in the same web site? Have you some of you approached this? Thanks. The official answer is maybe It's not officially supported, but most ASP.NET 1.1 pages will run fine under ASP.NET 2.0.  Officially you should run the upgrade wizard on your 1.1 pages. This is a  pretty good blog entry.      JamesMy Blog: http://www.wintersfamily.plus.c...

Where is the ADO.NET Sybase driver for .NET 1.1 and .Net 2.0?
Hi All Does anyone know where I can get the Sybase drivers for ADO.NET for both versions, 1.1 and 2.0/3.0? Cheers Chris Burrell Hi Chris, There is no release of ASE ADO.NET Provider 2.0 (I assume you refer to ASE provider, not ASA - if ASA please port to sybase.public.sqlanywhere.general). For the 1.1 Provider: It is available in the ASE SDK for windows or the PC Client CDRom included with ASE product. On the SDK its available as 12.5.1 and 15.0 On ASE PC Client I think 12.5.1 is part of ASE 12.5.X and 15.0 is part of ASE 15.X 2.0 provider should release som...

Run application (with Framework .net 1.1) in Framework .net 2.0
Dear All Is it possible to make the application built in Framework .net 1.1 to run in Framework .net 2.0 or to install it in Framework .net 2.0 without modifying its codes? I was told that it will not be compatible, but I tried to run it in .net 2.0 and it can be run successfully. But I have not fully tested it. But if I open it in VS2005, it will give me a lot of errors and warning. So I wonder can I just run it in .net 2.0 without touching its code. By the way, I found that there are v1.0.3705 and v2.0.50727 in my C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework. I have already uninstall ...
