When a user modifies the value in a textbox in a "EditTemplate" of the Form View, I would like the font color or back color of the text box to change - even before the update is submitted.
How can I do that? Thanks.
You can add an onchange event to your textbox:
Or use the onkeyup event as well. You may need to add the handler for this if your textbox box is being created in the client side. Please mark as "answer" if this helped you in anyway.
Thanks. here is how I did it:Protected Sub FirstName...Changing a Control's font/color that is enabled=false...
Is there any way to get around the washout/fadeout effect of setting a control to enabled=false?
I dont like the way it looks, but I can't seem to find a property or setting to allow me to change it. I'm thinking its a built in Microsoft thing and I have no choice in this matter.
Thanks in advance,
AFAIK, you're right. It's how the brower renders those controls,
in the same way that a browser decides how to render a drop down
list, or a textbox. I've never seen anything that would allow you
to change this display.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I was recently asked if it's possible to display the items of a disabled radiolist control in a font color other than gray. At first this might seem somewhat trivial, but after reading some posts it does seem rather practical given that a page may be displayed using different fonts and colors which may prevent the user from clearly seeing the radiolist control (it doesn't look too good when there's a gray' background).
I have tried to setting the radiolist control using an IE tag to make it uneditable,eg.

Good day to all,
I am trying to modify web controls through functions by passing in their ID as the parameter so that I can call the function whether a control's properties need to be modify.
The rough idea I have is as follows:
(Function, In VB)
Function ModifyTextboxText(Byval SampleTextbox)
SampleTextBox.text = "Textbox contents changed."
(Calling the function)
Has anyone got any idea how I could proceed with the coding?
Appreciate any help around here. Its for my school project.

Hi,There are two simple web user controls A and B, where B contains A. They just display the bunch of text boxes, so I do not need them even in tool pane. They sit in the same project next to web form.I noticed that web user control put on ASPX page does not appear in code behind, but if I create it with protected keyword and name being exactly the same as id it works fine. I can access such a web control from code behind and see the value assigned in IE. The problem is that the same routine does work for my A web control in B. When I assign the value IE, I keep getting null reference. ...can' t use IE Web Controls in VS.Net
