your best bet would to be buy a book to start building a web application.  To many things to ask to start to help you build a web app. especially if your just starting out.  I would suggest

Hi,

like already said before: first learn before you can something that works!

Take a look at the following links:

Quickstart tutorials
Download webmatrix and take the guided tour. The topics that you want are covered there.

You know Kris, this is something that I always repeat, Learn Before you Start, that is really wise to do.

Sometimes, you can learn a whole lot more just tinkering - trying things out. That's how I've acquired pretty much every skill I have. After I knew the basics, I could go back and read material and understand it much better than if I was reading as a clueless newbie. Just another wya to look at that thought.

Hi!

I do know the basics, infact a bit more abt ASP.net, C# and SQL, but my probs is ,how to get started with my work Crying [:'(] .

Hey thanx for introducing  me to webmatix , do u think i can just work on webmatrix and deploy my web appln without having vs.net nor .net SDK.

plz do forgive me if this seems to be an absurd one, coz, this is supposed to be the 1st .net appln for me Sad [:(].

thanx in advance

This is also how I've learned it. Reading some samples on the internet, diving into code from others or examples from Microsoft. Just using looking on these forums and try to solve a problem someone else has, and trying to give an answer of course Cool [H].

No problem. You can create your application with webmatrix without the need of the SDK or vs.net 2003. The only extra thing that you need to have installed is the .NET framework 1.1 (the redistributable). That's also how I have configured my old PII at home and it works great.

Everybody here on these forums was and is still learning. Good luck with your application!

Hi Kiran,

xml could be an asset for you but if I were to point you into a certain direction for creating a simple, database backed up, webapplication I would say that you first need to look at html and css for the layouting, besides the workings of ASP.NET of course Wink [;)].

Getting started with web application
I'm new to Visual Studio and I have trouble getting 'just started'. So I have a couple of questions.   First of all, is there a tutorial which will take me through the first steps of getting started? Current tutorials have not done the trick.   Second, if such a tutorial does not exist, What is the base to start? A web application (as I suppose) or a project? It must be possible to work with two programmers simultaneously. In such conditions, what is preferred?   Third, the layout of the website is as follows: a division into four parts with the menu on the left, the 'm...

Getting Started with Web Services
When playing with Web Services I found it impossible to expose more than one class, is this statement correct: you can only expose one class to the consuming application, you can't Publicly embed the worker classes into the main class and access their methods from the consuming application. Therefore, you have to pack all your input parameters into the top-level class, and then let all the worker classes underneath the top-level class work without exposure? When I tried to add an additional web service to try to get access to additional classes within the same web services applicati...
