Expected type is Int32 error

I am trying to add a row from a datagrid and I'm getting this error.
System.FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format. at System.Number.ParseInt32(String s, NumberStyles style, NumberFormatInfo info) at System.String.System.IConvertible.ToInt32(IFormatProvider provider) at System.Convert.ToInt32(Object value) at System.Data.Common.Int32Storage.Set(Int32 record, Object value) at System.Data.DataColumn.set_Item(Int32 record, Object value)Couldn't store <> in Q_CodeID Column. Expected type is Int32.

I am quite confident I have the database type settings correctly formatted but does anyone have a clue why or how I can correct this?
Error occurs on line 362....
Line 360: ' add a new blank row to the end of the data
Line 361: Dim rowValues As Object() = {"", "", "", "", "", "", ""}
Line 362: ds.Tables(0).Rows.Add(rowValues)
Line 363:
Line 364: ' figure out the EditItemIndex, last record on last page

I thought I read somewhere that it had to do with framework bug? (something about enumeration type???) don't know if this applies to my situation.
thanks for any help...

No it's not a bug in the framework. Rather, you're trying to add a row containing strings to the database whereas there is some column (Q_CodeID) that requires an integer value. So you should use a 0 or so instead, or a null value (and if that's supported by the table definition).

I'm sorry as you can see I'm your proto type beginner eager to learn, but I don't quite understand yet where I'd have to define/place your "0" suggestion? Indeed this is an integer that does not allow null value. I have another .net page with the same error (also integer) and that does allow null value. So I'd be appreciative of both these resolutions.

Retrograding httpHandler from .NET 2.0 to 1.1, get "Parser Error Message: Could not create type" message
Hi there,I have written a httpHandler using VS2005 and .NET 2.0 that builds and works fine. However, I am now having to convert it to .NET 1.1, which I hoped would just be a case of changing the runtime used by the web app (as in running the 1.1 version of aspnet_regiis, with a "-s" switch pointing at my web apps folder). After doing this though (and fixing a few minor differences with web.config), if I then navigate to my handler I get the following error message:Server Error in '/Path/To/MyWebApp' Application.Parser ErrorDescription: An error occurred during the parsing of...

Trying to transfer a Web Service made in .NET aspx on my "localhost", to online and getting BC30002: Type 'localhost.Convert' is not defined. error
I think I get the general idea of this error.  The webservice works on my computer as Visual Web Developer somehow makes a temporary server out of my computer.  But when I try to FTP my full ASP page I get an error that localhost is not defined.  This makes sense as I am sure the web server for GoDaddy is not called localhost for me.  Now in my App_WebReferences folder in my program I have a local host folder that holds 3 automatically generated files which are somehow "calls" to a webservice that I built.  So I have the original files for the webservi...

I'm playing around with fetching things from the CPAN shell here. We have an FTP and an HTTP proxy here. While stepping through things in the debugger, I notice that Net::FTP::new loads $fire from $arg{Firewall} || $ENV{FTP_FIREWALL} || $NetConfig{ftp_firewall} || undef; $fire_type is initialised similarly but %NetConfig is not consulted. Is this deliberate? If not, I suggest the following patch: --- /home/pne/tmp/install/perl-5.8.0/lib/Net/FTP.pm Sat Jun 1 19:03:20 2002 +++ /home/pne/lib/perl5/5.8.0/Net/FTP.pm Tue Jan 28 11:29:10 2003 @@ -70,6 +70,7 @@ delete $arg{Po...

Converting classic to .NET 2 code, and .NET gets an error back from ADS?
For future-proofing, our Internal Phone Directory is being moved onto our AD servers, and obviously we're using LDAP for queries. To get the phoneboook queries working, I adapted the current classic ASP code to use LDAP, and that works fine. However, we're wanting to move these pages to .NET, and that's where the problem comes in. Using the same basic logic from the Classic code (90% of its unchanged) to produce an LDAP query, I get the error  155 Unknown error (0x80005000)This is using the same website, and so the same credentials  - unless aspx pages run und...

Error:Type Expected
I did create one simple program which is used to retrieve data from SQL Server Database into the DataGrid. Unfortunately, compilation stops at the position that 'Dim conn as SQLConnection'.The error is just same as the subject 'Type Expected'. By the way, the default frameworkSDK from VS.NET version 1.0 lies different place from .NET1.1 I did install recently. If so, I wonder which FrameworkSDK will be used if I'm intending to compile ASP.NET Web Application. Looking forward to your timely kind reply! At the top of your page with the code, are you importing the System.Data namespace? ...
