Upgrading from DotNetNuke 2.1.2 to DotNetNuke 3.0.13 can not sign on as admin or host
I have just upgraded from Upgrading from DotNetNuke 2.1.2 to DotNetNuke 3.0.13, however now I can not sign on as either admin or host.. Also after registering as normal client I do not see my tabs that were built using DotNetNuke 2.1.2...
Never done upgrade before. Have a 2.1.2 site w/many custom (purchased) modules, some of which are no longer supported. Don't see *any* info in 3.1 install docs for 2.1.2 upgrade?
Hey folks:
I'm about to try something very scary, and I've spent the last 5 or so
hours reading DNN 3.1 docs and doing searches here (sure which the
search worked better, like allowed sort by date??). Anyway, I
don't see *any* info on updating a 2.1.2 site to a 3.1 site. The
only examples all have machine key stuff and other stuff that's not an
issue (or is it?) w/2.1.2
Here's the situation:
1 I have localhost access to the site via remote desktop
2. I have disconnected backed up data and log files and reconnected
3. I have made a copy of the virtual folder.

From 2.1.2 to 3.1 or 2.1.2 to 3.0.13 to 3.1
I'm checking back in after being away for a couple of months and I missed the 3.1 release. I can't seem to find any info on what's new in 3.1 and also what the upgrade path should be. So, is the recommended path for upgrading from v 2.1.2 to go directly to 3.1 or do I need to go to 3.0.13 first? Are there any big issues in 3.1 that make it a "gotta have it" version?I did a couple of 2.1.2 to 3.0.12 upgrades but haven't upgraded to or tested 3.1 yet. I have one 2.1.2 site that is commercial and I need it to be down as little time as possible. It also has a lot of third party modules...
I can't seem to get a skin to work in 3.0.13 that worked fine in 2.1.2. I know I'm doing *something* wrong, but after two weeks of trying, I'm stumped...
Yiikes. Back again. I am having the strangest things happen
with my skins now. Images specified in a css file no longer show
up. When I enter a specific path into my ascx file (assuming the
skin folder as the root directory), and upload the skin, to me, it
appears to not be parsing at all. When I 'Apply' the skin, any of
my skins, I get nothing. If I add the above image file to the
ascx file, upload, parse and apply, I get an 'x' bad image, and when I
click properties, the location of the image file is stating it is in
the dotnetnuke/ rooot folder....
DNN 3.2.1 & 3.2.2
I swear I looked everywhere... can't seem to find an answer to this.
In the action menu of a module, when trying to move it "content pane" or "left pane" etc... clicking the menu does nothing... wondering if anyone else has this issue and has solved it.
Thankfully, I can still drag and drop it... just can't use the menu.
Thanks everyone!
this is an error in 3.2.1, and should work in 3.2.2

Differences between .net 1, .net 1.1, .net 2.0 and .net 3.0 #2
Hi, This seems to be a common question, but i havent got an answer yet:(Can, any one please explain me the differences between these versions. If you keep your feet firmly on the ground, you'll have trouble putting on your pants!
There are too many differences for one email - - from 1.0 to 1.1 (not a whole lot of real change, other than fixes, at least compared to 1.1 to 2.0)
With 2.0, there were many new declarative controls, with many new ideas added in
With 3.0, it's a superset of 2.0 - instead of replacing the installation completely, it just 'added on' new functionality - I would...
DotNetNuke 2.1.2 Upgrade to 3.0.12
In the upgrade, following the directions given...After unzipping the 3.0.12 file overwriting the 2.1.2 (Previously working fine for several months), I get several errors when NOT logged in as admin or host. An Example is:
Multiple controls with the same ID 'ctr' were found. FindControl requires that controls have unique IDs.
When logged in as Admin or Host, I get the following errors on each module...
Could Not Load Container: /Portals/_default/Containers/Classic/container.ascx
As well as the first error...
I cannot upgrade my production site until I get this problem solved.

Why I can't login in 'host' or 'admin' account when i upgrade to 3.1.1 from 3.1.0
Hi,I unzip DNN3.1.1 package and conver to my DNN original directory (ver 3.1.0) and install successfully. But when i login in 'host' or 'admin' account, it display 'Login Failed' ,so i tried to clean cookies in IE and also delete my portal aliases in C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\Temporary ASP.NET Files\. But it still can't login by any account.Anyone have an idea what's wrong?
I can't swear to this, but it seems I've had problems in the past with account resets in this situation. Have you tried logging in as Host with the default password "host"...
Upgrade DotNetNuke from 3.1.1 to 3.2.0 issues
I upgraded my dotnetnuke from 3.1.1 to 3.2.0. I was successfully upgraded one of my server with no problem. But when I upgrade my local dev box, I have problems. After I run the http://localhost/dotnetnuke/install/install.aspx?mode=install on my local box, the upgrade from my local host (the html page) indicated that it's upgraded successfully. But once I click on the access my site link, I lost all the menu. Event when log on as host account, I lost the admin as well as the host menu.
I opened the C:\dotnetnuke\Solutions\DotNetNuke.All.sln and rebuild al...
Upgrading 2.1.2 to 3.0.13 with custom modules
Hey there gang,
I have seen postings from all directions on how to do this and I am soo confused. So let me as these questions:
1) Can DNN 2.1.2 with Custom Modules be upgraded directly to 3.0.13?
2) If so, what is the best procedure to perform this?
3) If not, has someone made an import tool to import data from an older version to 3.0.13 with custom modules?
Thanks,JaredJared Shockleyhttp://www.empowersmallbusiness.comhttp://www.jaredshockley.com

Friendly URL's issue after upgrading from 2.1.2 to 3.0.13
Hi
After doing a few dummy runs in a development enviroment I went ahead
and upgraded the production environment the upgrade went according to
plan and I could view the home page.. The problems started when I
tried to login and I got a 404 page cannot be found error I tried all
the menu links and got the same error. As the upgrade
automatically turned on 'friendly urls' I went into the database and
amended the setting in the HostSetting table to set friendly urls to no
and restarted the site/app pool went back into the site and everything
is now working.
Did a bit if ...
