Nested .NET applications, customErrors mode="Off" doesn't work

Hello everyone,

I have a .NET application inside a folder inside wwwroot of another .NET application so it has it's own web.config file. I do experience a runtime error with the well known page

Runtime Error

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="Off"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

The problem is that the <customErrors mode="Off"/> is correctly set in both web.config files. Any idea what to do to see a cause of my runtime error?
Thanks for any help,
Radoslav

Could be that your web.config has an error in it.  If you have a malformed web.config, the server default is used.

Do you have access to the server?  Try run the page on the server, you should get the real error.

Locally it works, the problem occurs on the ISP server which I don't have access to. Unfortunatelly, I can't run the page on the server.

Most likely the database connection is wrong.

if this works locally, the web.config can't be malformed.

can you post your web.config?

.NET Menu Control
Unfortunately for the .NET developers who have struggled with this problem for quite some time, there hasn't been a solution unless I'm missing something. The ASP.net Menu Control simply cannot support the "onclick" command instead of the "onmouseover" command. I have had some success with the method that Roshadar has posted in the past, but unfortunately, the Menu_HoverDynamic functionality still reverts to only the Hover state and not when clicked. My questions are these: Has anyone found a way to allow "onclick" capabilities on the Menu? If not, ...
