I'm working with Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition and SQL Server Express Edition to create a website. I read recently that the express edition does not have deployment capability. Is that correct or did I mis-read something? If it does not have this capability, is there a tutorial somewhere showing how to deploy with all the proper security elements and connection strings intact?I'm new at this, so need lots of hand-holding. Thanks!Bruce
I'm not sure what you read or what in any way would indicate any database having or not having "deployment capability".&n...Visual Web Developer Express
First of all, I am a newbie to VWDExpress and ASP.NET. I just downloaded it yesterday.
I tried a search on this first but was unsuccessful. Could someone point me in the right direction on the following?
I uploaded (copied via ftp) the personal web site starter kit to a folder on my Yahoo web hosting account just to see if I could view the web site. All I get is either source code or xml files. How do I view the new website? I tried to enable the Front Page server extensions (right thing to do??) on the Yahoo web account but it did ...Problem: Web Deployment Projects and Visual Web Developer 2005 Express
I can't get Web Deployment Projects to work in Visual Web Developer 2005 Express. I've tried to reinstall/repair both WDP and VWD, but I still not get Add Web Deployment Project command in the Build menu.
What I'm doing wrong? Or is this a bug?
Please help me...
Web Deployment projects are only supported in VS Standard and above. The reason is that Express editions do not have extensibility mechanisms that full version of VS has.Thanks------------------------------------------------------------This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights....Visual web developer 2005 express to visual web developer 2008 express

IIS 6.0 working fine for .Net framework 1.1 and 2.0?
During the beta period, I had both VWD 2005 and VS .NET 2003 installed side-by-side and I didn't notice any problems. I've also installed .NET Frameworks 1.1 and 2.0 on IIS 6.0, also without any issues. So, 1 and 2 shouldn't give you any problems.

I am using Web Matrix with Microsoft SQL 2000 to build web sites in ASP.NET 1.1 / VB.
I need to keep using Web Matrix with Microsoft SQL 2000.
Can I install the Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express?
I would use Web Matrix with Microsoft SQL 2000 to work as I usually do.
At same time I would get used to Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition.
VWD can coexists with Web Matrix. I am not sure, however, if SQL 2005 can run on the same box with SQL 2000. You do can, however, use VWD with SQL 2000.Thanks------...Visual Web Developer 2008 Express
Is it possible to integrate a Web Deployment Project into a VWD 2008 Express solution? I installed WebDeploymentSetup.msi but my VWD 2008 Express solution won't load the Web Deployment project.
If it is not possible to do this, is there a workaround such that I can 'mimic' the functionaity of the Web Deployment Project using only VWD 2008 Express?
My basic problem right now is that my VWD 2008 Express solution is capable of building all the standard projects it contains into .dll's, but the Web Deployment project is not loaded and therefore can't ...Can "Add Web Reference" if web service deployed to new web site, Can't add ref if deployed to Virt Server under Default web site (Sharepoint)
I have created a web service wich I can deploy successfully to a new

80 (and I'd rather just use a virtual server under the Default web).
If I try to deploy my web service under the Default Web as a new
virtual server, and then try to "Add a web Reference" to the service,
it fails with a 404: not found error.
My IIS server is running Sharepoint Portal Server (SPPS)sp2.

How does one delete (remove) a web site in Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition?
I looked high and low through the menu system and the toolbars. But I could find what for me would be an obvious menu item the file menu.
