[PATCH lib/Net/Config.pm, MANIFEST, t/lib/Mock/Socket.pm, lib/Net/Config.t] Add Tests for Net::Config
Here's a test suite for Net::Config. In the process of writing this, I've
fixed an apparent bug that prevented single values from becoming array
references when necessary. I think it's right, but perhaps Graham should weigh
in on this.
In the process, with some advice from perl-qa, I've added a mock object so the
test could control the output of Socket::inet_ntoa() and Socket::inet_aton().
t/lib/Mock/ seemed like as good a place as any.
I'm happy to rework this patch if it personally offends anyone whose opinion

So, what's my problem? I just started to use MySQL on one project. Database is 5.0.45-community-nt via TCP/IP. I'm using Connector NET 5.1.4 and .NET Framework 2.0. Ok, so I do get MySQL.Data and all from code behind. But I just want to use it like SQL connection, so from web.config. But when I try to do that, my connection just disappears from the list (say when you are choosing connections for datasource of web control). So obviously something is wrong in my web.config declaration of connection string:

Ok, I have searched everywhere and not been able to find an answer yet so I hope someone can help me. I have an application that uses a key in the web.config file to reference a connection string to SQL Server 2000. In the development environment, this works as expected. However, when I edit the web.config file to reference a new database (initial catalog) it doesn't seem to register for some of the command objects (based on stored procs). I will receive an error that the user could not log on to database X, even though the connection should now be referencing database Y. This only happens w...After migration from .Net 1.1 to .Net 3.5 do I have to incorporate new web.config settings in old *.config file
Hi,I have successfully migrated web application from .Net 1.1 to .Net 3.5. Could you let me know whether I have to incorporate setting in new web.config (this new web.config file was generated automatically due to migration) into old *.config file?FYI: Old *.config file contains all application level settings required. So I will continue to use old.config file by removing new web.config file. Settings which are in new web.config file are:<configSections><sectionGroup name="system.web.extensions" type="System.Web.Configuration.SystemWebExtensionsSectionGroup,...web.config problems when upgrading from .NET 2.0 Beta to .NET 2.0 release version
We uninstalled .NET 2.0 Beta and replaced it with .NET 2.0 release version. And it messed everything up. All applications now give weird errors indicating the lack of web.config files, despite the fact that they already have web.config files in place. For example, the following error occurs even though the web.config file has <customErrors="Off">:
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for securit...Develop in .NET 3.5...Deploy on .NET 3.0...Assembly strong name issue in web.config
Hi. I develop locally using web developer express 2008. I have .NET 3.5 installed on the development machine.I am trying to deploy to a Windows Server 2003 machine running.NET 3.0.Not surprisingly, I get an error about the strong assembly names referenced all over my web.config when I try to access the site on the production server.I don't think any of my code truly relies on .NET 3.5--it should all be compatible with the 3.0 framework.Here's my error message:Parser Error Message: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Core,

I have a website developed using c# vs 2005 (.net 2.0) and i added a web deployment project to it. I also have a customconf.config file which is a replica of the web.config but with some changes in the connection strings.
I specified in the property pages of the web deployment projects as "connectionStrings=customconf.config;" and the problem is that
when I build this, it copies the customconf.config file to the build folder, deletes it (i saw it getting copied into the folder and then disappearing automatically!!) and says the customconf.config could not be found. ....NET 2.0 encryption web.config/app.config options?
Situation: 13 servers containing both ASP .Net web sites and .NET apps. Servers are broken up in Developemnt, Test, and Production types.Issue: Need to encrypt all app.config and web.config files.Currently we are using .NET 1.1, so I had developed (test working, not yet deployed) a shared (GAC) utility that would be responsible for providing an interface to allow the encryption (DPAPI + Second Entropy) of information for the developer to manually place in each web.conf/app.config file during development. The backend of this utility was referenced by the *.config files in decrypting values on....Net 2 web app have connection problem after deployment
Hi, I have this strange problem. I developed .net 2.web applicaiton with sql 2005 and it worked fine when I run it in the visual studio. Then I deploy it to my own box( the same box i used for development) by using the web setup project ( window installer) and I got the problem : The server principal "NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE" is not able to access the database "db' under the current security context
I am using the sql authetication to connection to the database ( which means I pass sql connection string in my web cofiguration file) and sounds like that the running app...Accessing web.config connection setting in VS.NET
I've been running several of the ASP.NET database access walkthroughs in VS.NET. In these walkthroughs the SqlConnection object's ConnectionString property is set manually in the Properties window of VS.NET.
After successfully completing one application I decided to move my sql connection string into the web.config file. I then updated the code to use this new setting:
this.sqlConnection1.ConnectionString = ConfigurationSettings.AppSettings["connString"];
I made this edit in the "Web Form Designer generated code" portion of the code behind file. The res...Problem w/the web.config in .Net 1.1
We're having an odd problem w/the web.config when it comes to the production server. Basically, we have a bit of code in the app to report errors, and it grabs the SMTP server and mail recipients from the web.config.
In the global.asax:protected void Application_Error(Object sender, EventArgs e)
Session["ErrorTimeStamp"] = DateTime.Now;
Exception objErr = Server.GetLastError().GetBaseException();
MailMessage mail = new MailMessage();
mail.To = ConfigurationSettings.AppSettings["MailRecipients"].ToString();
mail.From = "*****@****.com"...setup AP.NET membership database & web.config in .NET 3.5?
A long time ago I setup an ASP.NET security database using aspnet_regsql.exe. I noticed this utility doesn't ship with .NET 3.5. Can anyone direct me to a writeup of how to create the security database and modify the web.config for membership? Thanks! Michael
You still use the .net framework version 2 version of aspnet_regsql.exe in something like C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727As I understand it ver 3.5 is just adding new features onto the version 2 framework but mostly asp.net is just the same.
Hope it helps

My setup is MS.NET v2.0 with the C# and Web Express editions of 2005. I also installed the AJAX 1.0 release with the respective toolkit as indicated in the AJAX.NET site. However, when I create a new project I am presented with the usual bare bones default.aspx and the web.config. However the web.config shows a lot of warnings and errors.One of them was being that the "requiredPermission" (or something like that) attribute was not recognized. Somewhere on the net there is a post of a correction to the DotNetConfig.xsd schema file in VS.2005 so I used it and it got rid of THAT warning.&n...Validate web.config from c#, programmatically or executing .net tools
Hi there, we have an app that executes a web.config merge and we want to have an automated test of the MergeConfig.Ideally I would check that there are no error in the merged web.config, viewing something like the error list window in visual studio when you open the web.config. Is there an Api to validate the web.config?Or may I do it with aspnet_compiler or some of this command tools? Thanks
Since the web.config is just a Xml file you can validate it against a xsd file.
