Extending the Club Web Site Starter Kit #2
Has anyone succsefully implemented the File Management System described here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa479335.aspx ?
Yes, I implemented it plus cleaned it up some. The version in the article is a good starting point and teaching tool, but it's a little light on error handling. It didn't gracefully handle things like file names and comments that are too long or uploading a file with the same name twice. Those problems were easy enough to fix.
How did you create an Admin name for the initial login. I have it running on my local mac...

Upgrade 4.0.0 Starter Kit to 4.0.1 Starter kit
I installed the 4.0.0 starter kit and upgraded a module I was working
on from 3.1 with problems. However now that 4.0.1 has arrived I do not
see how I can upgrade to it easily and the upgrade of starter kits does
not seem to be mentioned in the 4.0.1 documentation?
Could anybody please advise?
Many thanks
Richard.
I'm in the same boat, can't find an easy way to upgrade my DNN site created with the starter kit version 4.0.0. I am thinking the only way to upgrade the portal is to download the install version of 4.0.1 and extract the zip over the existing files in the...

Club Starter kit
Ok, I'm a super newbie, or maybe I'm stating the obvious. I'm running 2000 server with iis and mdac 2.8 . Using VS2005 I create a new web site, using the starter kit clubwebsite, and the welcome page tells me that it's set to pop. So I ctrl+F5 and I get an error message
Directory Listing Denied

Any help , ideas, or specific information that you need to diagnose the problem?
Sounds like you do not have the website setup properly in iis manager. Make sure the website is setup to use asp.net 2.0 a...
Club Starter Kits
Hi,
I've played around with the Club Starter Kit and then upgraded to Visual 2008 Express, and SQL Express 2008. Now nothing works. Do the starter kits not work with these upgrades?
Thanks,
Ciaran
It works fine for me. However, I did *not* let VWD update my site to ASP.NET 3.5.
Agreed - Do not upgrade the starter kit to .net 3.5 or the club starterkit will not work.ASPStarterKit.com - Helping get your ASP Starter Kit online;
It is possible to upgrade the club starter kit to 3.5, although not without a lot of fixing. See here:http://www.sahcinfo.org ...

Extended Club Site Starter Kit admin login info?
what is the Admin user name and password of Extended Club Site Starter Kit?...
Very newbie question on launching Club Starter Kit 2.0....
All-
I just downloaded Club Starter Kit (CSK) 2.0. Here's what I did to attempt to launch it.
I started Visual Web Developer 2008. (This is what I have. I also have SQL Server Express 2005 to support the database.)
I selected File - Open Web Site, and opened the main directory for the CSK files.
When prompted, I said Yes to convert the asp.net 2.0 application to asp.net 3.5.
I hit F5 (as suggested by the CSK documentation) to launch the app. I got this message: "There were build errors. Would you like to continue with the last successful build?" This didn't l...

Club Site Starter Kit on CrystalTech
My experience installing the Club Site Starter Kit on CrystalTech.com
I want to learn more about the new features of asp.net 2.0 and I thought what better way than to play around with one of the starter kits. But getting the club SK setup and installed is not as easy as I would have liked. Pushing through all the troubleshooting has taught me a few things. I found the forums on asp.net to be invaluable to me so I thought I would contribute.
First I downloaded and installed Visual Web Developer 2005 Express and the Club Starter Kit. I created a new pr...
Club Site Starter Kit Problems
Hello, Can anyone help me? I'm having several problems with the club site starter kit.
1) I just loaded the kit and have done no modification to it. When I load default.aspx I get 2 errors at the bottom from lines 79 and 96. "Element 'rolloverButton' is not a known element. This can occur if there is a compilation error in the web site"
2) When I upload the site to my dot.net 2.0 provider I get an error page: I changed the <customError mode="off"/> and I still get this same error. Any Ideas?

Deploying the Club Site Starter Kit
Since I have started working with the Club Site Starter Kit I have gathered much information...but I am missing a few pieces.1. Since ASP.NET Configuration is not available once the site is deployed to remote host (in most cases) is it true that developing locally and creating an administrator role and login locally and then backing up and restoring the database to the remote host will be enough to retain said administrator login and role?2. Are the databases for the Club Site and Extended Club Site the same? Schemas? etc.3. If I create a login and name it to administrator (locally) will thi...
Club Site Starter Kit Install
I downloaded the Club Site Starter Kit, now how do I get it to run. I do not see an application file to run. Am I missing something with the setup?
You need to use VS2005 and open the club.vsi file. You will also need to create the DB schema by using the ClubAdd.sql scripts that are provided.
That is the bare minimum, do a little digging and you will see that it is not the a terrible three horned beast.
I got the club starter kit up and running on my own server within 15 minutes of downloading it.
